WHO’S NEWS: Eastern Consolidated continues retail expansion; Colliers bolsters NYC brokerage

Avison Young announced that retail real estate specialist Jedd Nero has joined the firm to expand its business-line coverage in New York City.
Nero becomes a principal and executive managing director, New York City Retail Services, based in Avison Young’s Manhattan office.
Highly regarded as one of the top retail real estate professionals in the industry, Nero has managed the real estate requirements for a number of national and international retailers, including Hugo Boss USA, Kenneth Cole, Volkswagen/Audi and JP Morgan Chase.

Nero has been especially influential in shaping the retail landscape of Fifth Avenue, where he most recently represented Western Management at 589 Fifth Avenue in the signing of a milestone deal with H&M for 57,000s/f.
This complex transaction created the largest H&M store in the world to date at that time, providing H&M with six floors of retail space.
In addition to tenant representation, Nero has served as leasing agent for numerous prominent property owners, including Silverstein Properties, Muss Development, Western Management, The Moinian Group, Mitsui Fudosan, Douglaston Development, Gallery Partners, The Statuto Group and Starwood.
Prior to joining Avison Young, Nero was Executive Vice-President with the Global Retail Services Group at CBRE in New York City.
Prior to CBRE, he was Executive Vice-President with Newmark New Spectrum Retail, LLC, where he formed the company’s retail services division in 1995.

Eastern Consolidated’s retail leasing division, formed at the start of 2014, has expanded with the addition of Anastasia (Annie) S. Meyding as director.
An industry veteran with more than 10 years of experience, she will focus on both landlord and tenant representation.

Prior to joining Eastern Consolidated, Meyding was a director for Walker Malloy & Company, where she managed the retail leasing of more than 400 stores in New York City for multiple landlords.
Prior to Walker Malloy & Company, she worked for Home Work People II LLC where she oversaw long- and short-term office leasing, with a focus in the advertising, entertainment, music, and new media industries.
Meyding graduated with a degree in Political Science from Hunter College.

CBRE Group, Inc. announced that Kyle Schoppmann has been promoted to executive managing director, New York Tri-State Region.
Schoppmann heads Occupier Services for CBRE’s NY Tri-State Brokerage Group.
Schoppmann joined CBRE in 2007. As head of Occupier Services, she directs Brokerage Services for CBRE’s Midtown Manhattan office, overseeing day-to-day sales operations with responsibility for the development and management of 120 sales professionals.
In addition, Schoppmann directs the creation and implementation of tools and training to support the brokerage professionals’ success. As the New York Tri-State Region’s chief strategist she leads the annual strategic planning process.
Schoppmann also chairs CBRE’s Global Law Firm Practice Group, where she is responsible for defining global real estate solutions and best practices for law firm clients.
She co-authored a CBRE Special Report, Law Firms Build a Case for Green, which highlighted recent trends in law firm sustainability practices.
With more than 20 years of management experience, Schoppmann was previously a consulting partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Subsequently, she joined IBM.
A 2009-2010 Partnership for New York City David Rockefeller Fellow, Schoppmann graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, and received a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Michigan.

HKS Capital Partners announced the appointment of Lennon Stravato as vice president of private equity.
Stravato pecializes in structuring the acquisition of assets that fall outside of typical, conventional lending parameters.
He has an extensive background investing in value-added, distressed, illiquid, and off-market assets. Prior to joining HKS, he worked with high net worth individuals and private investment firms.
He is also proficient in Mandarin Chinese, a published foreign policy writer, and is a masters candidate in international relations at New York University.
After starting his career in asset management and directing a diverse national real estate portfolio of over one million square feet, Stravato founded multiple private investment firms.

Steven Rainey has joined CW Solutions as a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Manager.
He brings eight years of experience, providing geospatial support in various disciplines to his new role.
Prior to joining CW Solutions, Rainey worked with the City of Newark, Office of Management and Budget as GIS administrator, creating custom web map applications and managing property ownership data.
He was also a project leader with direct involvement in GIS Development Life Cycles.

Quest Workspaces announced the appointment of Nancie Dudash to vice president of Operations.
Dudash will manage Quest’s growth in the commercial real estate sector. She will also institute new training protocols, streamline billing, enhance customer service, assist with human resources.

Dudash has worked in the commercial real estate industry for more than 20 years. Formerly, she was the vice president of operations for both Carr Workplaces and Synergy Workspaces.
From 2005 to 2007, she was the area director for Corporate Office Centers where she managed a portfolio of nearly 200,000 s/f of leasable space throughout California and Georgia.
Before that, she was the area president West for HQ Global Workplaces overseeing offices in California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Colorado and Nevada.

Brookhaven Town Supervisor Edward P. Romaine and Frederick C. Braun III, chairman of the Brookhaven Industrial Development Agency (IDA) and the Brookhaven Local Development Corporation (LDC), announced the appointment of residential real estate developer Michael Kelly, and business executive Martin Callahan III to the boards of the Brookhaven IDA and LDC.
Michael Kelly, a lawyer by training and a licensed real estate broker, brings more than 30 years of real estate industry related experience to the Brookhaven IDA and LDC.
He is the principal of Kelly Development Corporation, which focuses on developing small sub-divisions, including the Riverwalk Condominiums, which are now under construction in Patchogue.
Earlier, he was vice president of Pulte Homes. He also worked for Prudential Home Mortgage Co., Chase Manhattan Bank and the law firm of Meyer, Meyer & Keneally, in Smithtown.
Martin Callahan, is a partner and vice president for Coram-based National Computerized Agencies, Inc., an independent insurance agency.
He brings more than 28 years of business experience to the Brookhaven IDA and LDC.

CBRE Group, Inc. announced that Theresa Morzello, an experienced New York City commercial real estate management professional, has joined the company as managing director for Asset Services in New York City.
Morzello will direct services ranging from property management to project management, due diligence and accounting activities, as well as providing hands-on leadership for more than 50 properties.
Previously with Cushman & Wakefield, Morzello gained industry expertise in a number of positions, beginning in 2006.
In addition to serving as a portfolio manager, she was a general manager for a dual-campus portfolio for New York–Presbyterian Hospital/Royal Charter Properties.
She has also held management positions in corporations, including MetLife and Emigrant Savings Bank. She began her career as an engineer at the New York Power Authority.
Morzello holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Loyola College

The Kaufman Organization announced that Sam Stein has joined the firm’s leasing division.
Stein, who most recently served as director of leasing at Justin Management, will bring with him a four building leasing portfolio and will also be responsible for tenant representation leasing and sourcing acquisition opportunities.
Stein has a versatile commercial real estate background with more than 11 years of experience.
At Justin, he oversaw a leasing portfolio of more than 1.3 million square feet of Class B and C office space where he focused on both leasing and management. In addition, he remained active in building sales and tenant lease representation.
Stein graduated from the Muhlenberg College with a B.A. in Philosophy and American Studies and recently received an MBA from the Columbia Business School.

Colliers International has continued to diversify its New York brokerage team with the addition of Richard Charkham as an executive director.
He brings more than 19 years of legal and real estate experience advising corporate tenants, particularly American subsidiaries of Israeli and British companies, on their real estate strategies.

Richard has also successfully completed acquisitions and dispositions in multiple markets within the U.S. and multiple global locations for companies such as Amdocs, NICE Systems, and Comverse, among others.
Prior to entering the real estate industry, Richard served as a lawyer in England and Israel for 16 years.

Cushman & Wakefield has promoted Jules J. Nissim to the position of executive director.
Nissim joined the firm’s East Rutherford office in 1990 as an industrial specialist and today is ranked among the firm’s Top 10 producers in that sector nationwide.
During his tenure with Cushman & Wakefield, he has led acquisition and disposition transactions structured as sales; sale/leasebacks; and traditional, synthetic and bonded leases for more than 200 million square feet of space and $1 billion in value.
Clarke Company, Vertafore, Access Global, Port Jersey Logistics and AEP in their real estate needs on a national basis, and Crate & Barrel on a global basis.
Additionally, he serves as marketing agent of industrial space and land on behalf of leading developers like The Rockefeller Group and Principal Real Estate Investors, and TA Associates Realty.
Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Nissim held sales and management positions with Handy & Harman.

Handler Real Estate Organization has expanded its growing brokerage division with the addition of associates Jonathan Senker and Jesse de la Rama.
As the newest members of the Handler brokerage team, Senker and de la Rama will provide tenant representation services for various companies throughout New York City, and likely assist the in-house agency leasing team that represents Handler’s Manhattan office building portfolio.
Prior to joining Handler, Jonathan Senker was a broker and managing agent at Plymouth Management Group and Ingram & Hebron Realty.
His background also includes real estate law. He is a graduate of Brandeis University and Brooklyn Law School, and is involved in historic preservation.
As a recent graduate of Fordham University at Rose Hill, Jesse de le Rama received a BA in Communications, and completed an internship with CBRE.
With the addition of Senker and de la Rama, Handler now has ten licensed brokers, with plans to double in size within the next two years.
