West Elm to open outlet at Industry City

Belvedere Capital, Jamestown and Angelo Gordon & Co. announced that home décor chain West Elm will open a new 15,000 s/f outlet at Industry City.

The location builds upon the company’s growing presence at Industry City, which currently houses West Elm Makers Studio, a 120,000 s/f, state-of-the-art creative workspace for artists, designers and craftsmen. The in-house design and photo studio was established at Industry City in 2015, serving as a mainstay hub for the global design company’s experimentation and collaboration.

West Elm already has a 120,000 s/f, state-of-the-art creative workspace within the Industry City campus.

Industry City also houses WantedDesign Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Design District.

The opening of its new location solidifies West Elm’s presence in the community as a Brooklyn-born brand, according to Jim Somoza, director of development for Industry City.

“West Elm is a Brooklyn-born brand, and it is only fitting that they open their first NYC-based outlet at Industry City,” said Somoza.

“The new location sits among the best-in-class design retail with Design Within Reach, Restoration Hardware, ABC Carpet & Home and Porcelanosa, while also part of a broader creative community of furniture retailers, makers, architects and design firms.”

West Elm Outlet will be situated along the 2nd Avenue corridor of the six million-square-foot, 35-acre Industry City campus in Sunset Park, Brooklyn where retail stores include Flavor Paper, Christophe Pourny Studio, cityFoundry and Micol Ceramics.
