Mark Jaccom jumps to Walter & Samuels

Mark Jaccom  has landed at Walter & Samuels following a stint at JRT Realty and Cresa.

David Berley, chairman of the 84-year-old real estate firm, announced this morning that he had created a new position for Jaccom at his firm, which manages 50 commercial properties comprising more than three million square feet in New York.

As  Executive Vice President and Director of Leasing & Brokerage,  Jaccom will focus on commercial assets under Walter & Samuels’ management, and develop a strategic brokerage and advisory services group for third-party landlords and tenants for the first time in the firm’s long history.

“This is a growth move,” said Berley. “As we continue to add new properties to our portfolio and build relationships with institutional owners, we want to be faster on our feet. While some companies become so big they’re hardly manageable, our size requires a powerful and responsive leasing department that adds value to our assets, third-party owners and tenants.”

Jaccom has been in the business for 40 years, working in corporate leasing and real estate advisory services for global brands. He began his real estate career at Coldwell Banker as a broker  and from there joined Julian Studley, now Savills Studley, as Vice Chairman and Principal. He later joined family firm GVA Williams, where as President and CEO he quarterbacked the restructuring and sale of the firm to Colliers, which eventually became Colliers International.

He then became President and Managing Principal to restructure and elevate the New York office of Cresa but left to join JRT in April.

“I’m honored to join a firm that has been a mainstay in the New York commercial real estate industry for decades,” said Jaccom of his new role. “My goal is to develop a competitive leasing group within Walter & Samuels that will add value to the buildings the firm has under management and enable our landlord and corporate clients to achieve their business and financial goals.”

“I’ve come full circle,” said Jaccom. “Bringing my experience to a leading New York real estate institution to develop a leasing department while also being able to be mentored on asset acquisition under one of the greatest minds in real estate, David Berley, is the natural and ideal next step in my career. I particularly look forwards to sourcing opportunities and crafting deals with David.”

“Mark is the entire package,” added Berley. “I’ve been running a real estate company for almost fifty years, but competition is different today, and we want to be at top of the game. We’ve come across some opportunities in recent years where we didn’t have the right person to develop them. We found the right person in Mark Jaccom.”
