Studio Libeskind, the international architectural and design firm of architect Daniel Libeskind, will move its headquarters to JEMB Realty’s 150 Broadway in Lower Manhattan.
Studio Libeskind has signed a 10-year lease for a full floor of space.
The firm, which has offices in Milan and Zurich, will relocate from 2 Rector Street to occupy the 12,500 s/f 18th floor at 150 Broadway, also known as the Westinghouse Building.
“The vitality and connectivity of downtown is ideal for our Studio’s international business — the new location is steps away from the World Trade Center site and next to the new Fulton Center metro station. We were drawn to 150 Broadway not only for the spectacular location and views, but because the building is family-owned and operated — a unique quality,” said Carla Swickerath, CEO and Principal of Studio Libeskind.
Morris B. Jerome, principal, JEMB Realty, noted that the former headquarters for the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, “has been revitalized through extensive upgrades and repositioning, and has now returned to its roots as the home of the city’s leading-edge corporations.”
JEMB Realty is implementing a capital improvement program at 150 Broadway that includes upgrades to hallways, security systems, bathrooms and elevator lobbies.
Spector Group is the designer for the renovation, which is part of a repositioning effort that has highlighted the building’s column-free space and original architectural details to attract creative tenants.
LMHQ, a full-floor collaboration space established by the Downtown Alliance for Lower Manhattan’s creatives and creators, also recently opened at 150 Broadway. Designed by Gensler, LMHQ offers a working environment that features event space with audio/visual technology, meeting rooms, individual and team workspaces and coffee bar.
JEMB Realty was represented in the Studio Libeskind transaction by Scott Cahaly, senior vice president, and Kyle Young, associate, with JLL. Studio Libeskind was represented by Steven H. Marvin, executive managing director of Olmstead Properties.
