Global housing named as theme for 2016 event

MIPIM, the world’s leading real estate market, conference and networking event, has announced the main theme for MIPIM 2016 will be “Housing the World”, focusing its attention on housing development, challenges and the needs of this sector in the real estate industry worldwide. MIPIM seeks to offer invaluable insight to industry executives by bringing together the full spectrum of industry participants and providing them the opportunity to meet global leaders and enhance their company on a larger scale.

“We look forward to continuing to see a significant and growing interest from the United States that will bring an increase in American participation to MIPIM 2016,” said Julien Sausset, Director of MIPIM. “We selected a theme this year that is a universal real estate concern of governments and private sector developers alike, and believe this theme will encourage involvement of real estate industry professionals from many additional U.S. firms this year.”

The leading focus of this year’s conference will be, “Housing the World”, and different housing trends, policies and challenges that are occurring internationally. Other areas of focus for the 2016 conference will include the digital impact on real estate, opportunities and trends in mature and emerging markets, and alternative verses core asset classes. In addition, the conference will focus on innovative solutions and practices that are designed to promote smart thinking and value building, while also focusing on hotel and tourism and how the hospitality industry can grow businesses.

Launched in 1990 and organized by Reed MIDEM, the 27th edition of MIPIM takes place in Cannes, France, March 15-18, 2016 and offers real estate centric programs, deal-making opportunities, exhibition facilities, educational opportunities, and networking events. In 2015, over 20,000 global real estate industry executives from 93 countries, including over 4,500 investors, traveled to Cannes for the annual gathering of the global real estate industry. The four-day event brings together investors, developers, occupiers, architects, hotel groups, public authorities, city mayors and property associations from around the world.

“Since its launch in 1990, MIPIM has acted as a business facilitator for the property industry and part of that role is to anticipate and discuss important subjects that are changing the real estate business,” added Julien Sausset. “There is a growing awareness that the housing market is going to dramatically affect both micro and macro economies at local, regional and to national levels. MIPIM 2016 will fast track discussions and understanding about what changes may occur.”

As a business real estate event, MIPIM offers unrivalled access to the greatest number of development projects and sources of capital worldwide. The conference is well attended by investors, financial institutions, developers, architect and planners, political leaders and many other key leaders in the industry.
