
Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP announced that Andrew B. Levine has joined the firm as senior counsel in the Real Estate Department.
Levine has experience both as a senior banking executive and as an attorney, in commercial real estate finance, acquisitions, asset management, and restructurings across the risk spectrum, credit cycles, and asset classes.Â
At Fried Frank, he will advise clients on all aspects of commercial real estate finance transactions.
Previously, Levine was a managing director and the Head of Portfolio Lending & Underwriting at the French bank, Natixis. Before that he was a real estate partner at the boutique law firm, Katsky Korins LLP.
Levine received his J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he was on the editorial staff of the Journal of International Law and Politics. He received his B.A., with distinction, from Binghamton University.

BankUnited announced the hiring of Carly Berfas as senior vice president in New York City.
With 21 years of industry experience, Berfas will be responsible for originating and managing a commercial real estate loan portfolio of new and current clients.
Most recently, Berfas served as a vice president and team leader in the New York City commercial real estate group at M&T Bank.
Berfas holds an MBA from Fordham University and a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University.

The Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) has elected its 2020 officers.
SIOR’s current President-Elect, Mark J. Duclos, SIOR, Hartford, Conn., will assume office as SIOR President. The current Vice President, Patrick Sentner, SIOR, Pittsburgh, Penn. will become President-Elect.
Patricia J. Loveall, SIOR, Seattle, Wash., has been elected as SIOR’s Vice President. After serving a one-year term as Vice President, Loveall will serve as President-elect for a year and then step into the Presidency of SIOR in the fall of 2022.
Members at Large elected to SIOR’s Board of Directors included Gabriel M. Silverstein, president of Angelic Real Estate.
Silverstein has completed real estate transactions in 45 US states and 17 foreign countries. he has led Angelic since 2004 and, before that was a Senior Vice President at Equis Corporation, an asset manager and financial analyst at LaSalle Partners (now Jones Lang LaSalle), member of the overseas trading desk at Morgan Stanley, and ran Star Progress, a construction supply company in Moscow, Russia.
Silverstein is an officer of the NYC/Downstate New York chapter of SIOR.

Rick has practiced public accounting for over 35 years. Serving businesses and individuals across a wide array of industries, he holds several leadership positions at Janover, including the firm’s Compensation Committee, and serving on its Executive Board. Rick currently serves as the co-partner-in-charge of the Firm’s marketing initiatives.

Chad Phillips and Brian Tilton report to Rahul Idnani, Nuveen Real Estate’s Global Chief Operating Officer and U.S. head of portfolio management.
Chad Phillips has over 18 years of investment experience in real estate and joins from Guggenheim Real Estate where he oversaw the firm’s investment strategies, acquisitions, financings and dispositions as a portfolio manager.
Phillips holds a BA from Davidson College and a Master’s of Real Estate from Georgetown University.
Brian Tilton has over 16 years of investment experience and joins from Canada Pension Plan Investment Board where he led its U.S. industrial team and was responsible for investment strategy, sourcing, underwriting and structuring programmatic joint ventures and equity investments.
Tilton holds a BBA from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Knotel has appointed industry veteran Vik Aggarwal as Global Head of Enterprise.
Aggarwal has over 18 years of financial and corporate real estate experience.
In his new role, he will lead and expand Knotel’s enterprise business and cultivate new strategic partners. His responsibilities will include managing and supporting large organizations in optimizing their real estate portfolios globally.
Prior to Knotel, Aggarwal spent three years as Corporate Vice President, Global Real Estate at AECOM, where he managed all financial aspects of the company’s global real estate portfolio.
From 2013 to 2016, he worked as Director, Global Corporate Real Estate Strategy and CRM for American Express, and before that, he served as Vice President, Business Finance, Corporate Services for BlackRock.
He has also held positions with Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, Johnson & Johnson and Alcatel-Lucent.

Wendy Koshner steps in as director of business development and Daniel Abbruzzese joins the firm as project executive.
As a seasoned business development professional with more than 14 years of industry experience, Wendy Koshner will be focused on fostering strong client relationships and developing strategies and action plans to tackle markets and specific project pursuits for Shawmut’s Tri-State division.
Previously, Koshner held positions as director of marketing at RCDolner Construction, and, most recently, as business development director at STV Incorporated.
As project executive, Daniel Abbruzzese will be responsible for all project aspects, with a specific focus on procurement, financial controls, schedule adherence, and owner and design team coordination.
With more than 29 years of experience in managing technical projects and construction operations, Abbruzzese brings a highly diverse and complex hospital and healthcare portfolio to Shawmut’s Tri-State division, including previous posts as director of engineering at Northwell Health Huntington Hospital and vice president of facilities and plant operations at NYU-Winthrop Hospital.
In addition to healthcare, Abbruzzese has specialized in facilities planning and the life science and tenant interiors sectors as the director of facilities services at North Shore LIJ Health Systems.
