Cresa, a commercial real estate firm, has welcomed Nicholas Markel as vice president. Markel will be based in the New York City office. Prior to joining Cresa, he served as vice president at Deutsche Bank’s Corporate Services Real Estate Department, reporting to the Global Head of Real Estate.

Before that, he worked at Cushman & Wakefield, where he was promoted three times within five years, achieving the title of director.

Among Markel’s many notable deals have been the relocation of the headquarters of Rockefeller Financial into a 65,000 square-foot space at 630 Fifth Avenue; the relocation of UGG Australia (Deckers) to a 15,000 square-foot office and showroom space at 1325 Avenue of the Americas; the $140,000,000 sale of One Broadway; and the sale of a 40,000 square-foot commercial condominium at 633 Third Avenue on behalf of Mount Sinai Health Systems.

Markel is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York.


Eversheds Sutherland has announced that Nicole L. Fenton has joined the New York office as a partner in the Real Estate Practice group. Fenton is the fourth high-profile addition to the group in recent weeks.

Fenton, previously a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, brings 25 years of experience to Eversheds Sutherland with a successful transactional real estate practice focused on counseling US and non-US investors on investments across the country. She has significant experience advising developers, joint ventures and funds in real estate acquisition, financing, development and leasing. Additionally, she has counseled many institutions in a broad range of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, development, construction and mezzanine financing, joint ventures and preferred equity investments.

Along with expansion in New York, the Real Estate team also established a presence in Chicago last month with the addition of Marc Benjamin and Susan Kai, who are founding partners of Eversheds Sutherland’s new outpost in Chicago.


CBRE announced that Jim Dobleske will join the company on July 15 as Global President of Project Management.

A top executive with wide-ranging industry experience, Dobleske will be responsible for driving CBRE’s growth strategy for project management and working with the company’s 7,200 management professionals around the world.

Dobleske joins CBRE from JLL, where he held leadership positions of increasing responsibility for approximately 17 years. Most recently, he served as Global Head of Enterprise Sales for JLL’s Corporate Solutions business, and earlier was International Director of Project and Development Services, with oversight of project management strategy and delivery globally. Prior to JLL, he worked in project management at Ford Motor Company for 11 years, an experience that gives him keen insight into client requirements.


Douglas Elliman announced that Michael Murphy has been promoted to Senior Executive Manager of Commercial Sales as part of Elliman’s Long Island Senior Management Team.

Murphy, who is based in DE’s Huntington office, has long been the brokerage’s Head of Operations and Executive Vice President of Real Estate for the Commercial Services Division.

A licensed Associate Real Estate Broker, he is a member of the Commercial Industry Brokers Society of Long Island, the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Long Island Commercial Network and EXECULEADERS.


Katz & Associates has announce that Rod Garcia has joined the company’s New York City office as Sales Associate.

Garcia has an extensive sales background and began his career at The Ritz Carlton as a Human Resources Associate. From there he joined Yahoo in the Digital Media Sales Division and was recognized as one of the top 10 producers.

Garcia launched his real estate career at Urban Real Estate five years ago and during that time closed hundreds of residential rental and sales deals in the New York Metropolitan Area.

He volunteers his time as a wrestling coach for Beat the Streets, a program for inner-city kids.


Jaros, Baum & Bolles (JB&B) has announced that Mark Torre, Scott Frank and Walter Mehl, Jr. have been named the firm’s new Managing Partners. Each of the three new Managing Partners brings more than thirty years of professional experience to their new role.

Mark Torre, a partner at the firm for over 20 years, has spearheaded the firm’s efforts on top-tier tri-state, national and international projects, with projects across all major market sectors, including the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, the Moynihan Train Hall (James A. Farley Building) renovation, and 8 Spruce Street (Beekman Tower).

He has also worked intensively for the past 12 years on the recently opened Hudson Yards, the history-making reimagining of Manhattan’s West Side, overseeing the MEP engineering for Towers 10, 15, 30 and 35, the Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards, the development’s central plaza and its urban landmark, Vessel, as well as The Shed.

Scott Frank leads JB&B’s team of HVAC design professionals, and counts among his more notable projects 3 and 4 World Trade Center, the Bank of America Tower, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Visitor Center and Kristal Kule Finansbank HQ (Istanbul, Turkey). His background with higher education projects, among them the Tata Innovation Center on the Cornell Tech campus in New York City, the Jerome L. Greene Science Center at Columbia University’s Manhattanville campus and Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México in Mexico City, is complemented by his role as the firm’s Sustainable Design leader.

A founding member and current Board Chair of Urban Green Council, he serves on the New York City Energy Code Advisory Committee, and has also been actively involved in supporting the Mayor’s One City Built to Last plan.

Walter Mehl, Jr. has been the driving force behind the development of JB&B Technologies, the firm’s low-voltage services arm that supports IT, security, audiovisual and RF engineering (antenna systems) design service offerings.

Mehl has particularly distinguished himself with large-scale commercial projects such as 745 Seventh Avenue, Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park and One Vanderbilt, and has secured a well-earned reputation for his new-construction and retrofit work in the financial industry with a client base that includes Citigroup, Nomura Securities and Barclays.

Mitchel Simpler, who has served as Managing Partner since 2012, will continue at JB&B as a partner as he takes on his role as Chairman of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), a voice of advocacy, political action, and business education for the engineering industry.

Simpler has been at the firm since 1977, and in that time has garnered an impressive portfolio of clients, chief among them NYU Langone Health, Memorial Sloan Kettering, the New York Genome Center and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.


Zetlin & De Chiara LLP announced that its newest partner is a former associate, Tara Mulrooney.

Mulrooney developed her passion for construction law – large scale contracts and dispute resolution – while an associate at Zetlin & De Chiara. She eventually was drawn to bigger law firms, where she honed her craft, before opting once again for a boutique practice.

Mulrooney represents various owners/developers, owner’s representatives, design professionals and project managers in industries ranging from retail and healthcare to sports and hospitality. She has also worked on numerous mega deals in the construction of high-end residential real estate. Her expertise lies in drafting and negotiating a full range of construction-related agreements for owners, architects, engineers, and other consultants.

Additionally, Mulrooney regularly provides counsel on risk management strategies and represents various parties on adjacent construction issues, such as negotiating license and access agreements with adjacent property owners.

She previously served as a senior associate at Zetlin & De Chiara from 2005-2009. She most recently served as special counsel at Proskauer Rose.


Amy Wincko has joined the STO Building Group in the new position of Senior Vice President of Operational Excellence & Strategic Planning. In this position, Wincko will play a critical role in guiding the company’s continued success and growth.

Wincko comes to STO from AECOM and Tishman Construction, where she spent 18 years and most recently served as the Executive Vice President of Risk & Operations for Construction Services. Throughout her career, she has specialized in managing, assessing and improving on operational and administrative processes, including her company’s work on such high-profile projects as the World Trade Center Transportation Hub; Freedom Tower; 3, 4, and 7 WTC; and the One Vanderbilt tower now under construction.

At STO, Wincko will lead several operational initiatives, including rolling out a new quality program, chairing a risk committee, implementing a new preconstruction review board and vetting pursuits and progress of high-risk projects.

Wincko has earned a number of awards and accolades throughout her career, including being named a top young professional by both ENR magazine (2011) and Building Design + Construction (2012), receiving a Professional Achievement Award from Professional Women in Construction in 2011, and earning the AECOM CEO Award in 2015.


In 2017, Mancini transitioned ownership of the firm to a new generation of leadership, establishing a new group of shareholders. This evolution continues with the addition of Mancini Chief Financial Officer, Bolanle Williams-Olley, as a shareholder where she will support the long-term, strategic vision that is aiming toward continued growth.

Williams-Olley was named CFO in May, 2018 after realigning the firm’s financial strategy.

Williams-Olley has been instrumental in aligning the firm’s financial and operational positions with this evolution. As a shareholder, she will continue to have a direct impact on managing the firm’s finances and operations at the highest level, ensuring this vision is successfully executed.


FullStack Modular, LLC, has announced the appointment of architect Jeremy Linzee as Chief Design Officer.

In this new position Linzee will lead all design efforts, which includes serving as the design liaison to clients, architect of record and engineers of record. Additionally, he will manage the in-house architectural and engineering teams and oversee designs, materials and processes.

Linzee comes to FullStack Modular from bld architecture where as Director of Design he led all of the firm’s design efforts including such projects as Nassau Coliseum Retail, New York State Greenmarket Regional Food Hub, and Netflix Film Studios in Brooklyn.

Previously, Linzee was a Project Architect at Diller Scofidio + Renfro, where he headed the design of Exits, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum Visitor Experience, and the Hirshhorn Museum Lobby and worked as a project architect on The High Line/Phase 2, and The Shed. Prior to that, he worked as a Project Architect at Kohn Pedersen Fox.


Mike Barr, MIES, a senior account executive at Lutron Electronics Inc., was installed as the 93rd President of the New York City Section of the Illuminating Engineering Society New York City Section (IESNYC). 

For the past two years, Barr has served as the IESNYC’s vice president. In addition, he has chaired the Finance Committee, the Nominations and Awards Committee, co-chaired the Sponsorship Committee, coordinates the IESNYC Thesis Awards, and has been a long-standing member of the IESNYC Board of Managers. He was worked at Lutron Electronics for almost 40 years with the last 15 years in the New York Metro Area working closely with the design community. 

Peter Jacobson, MIES, becomes the Section’s Vice President. He is Con Edison’s lighting specialist and liaison to the lighting industry, a role he has held since 1991. A long-standing member of the IESNYC Board of Managers, Jacobson has also served on many IESNYC committees and he is a member of the IES Progress Report Committee.

Barr succeeds Caleb McKenzie, LC, IALDA, MIES, and a principal at US Lighting Consultants, who served for two terms. McKenzie remains on the Section’s Board of Managers.


Acoustic Distinction has announced the expansion of its team with Charlie Burnor, Senior Associate, AV.

As a Senior Associate at Acoustic Distinctions, Burnor’s responsibilities include AV and Audio System design, project management, consulting, and construction administration. With over 15 years of experience in these areas, Burnor is particularly focused on the aesthetic impact of technical systems and best practices for seamless integration of technology into new construction and renovation projects, with experience ranging from residences and small conference rooms to large scale campus and sports facility AV design.

He served for six years as AV and Audio System designer for the USTA National Tennis Center in Queens, NY. Previously, Burnor’s career was with a high-end residential and commercial AV design-build firm.


The architecture and urban design firm Cooper Robertson has announced several new hires. The recently hired architects and designers include Jason Cadorette, AIA, who rejoins Cooper Robertson as a Senior Associate, and Iris Kim, Collin Gardner, Anjulie Palta, Alan Song, Lloyd Helen, and Jason Fung.

With over 15 years in the field, Jason Cadorette first joined Cooper Robertson in 2006, where he served as Project Architect and Senior Associate on a number of notable museum and educational commissions including the Gateway Arch Museum in St. Louis, the Florence County Museum in Florence, South Carolina, and the Harlem Village Academy High School in New York City.

In his new role Cadorette will oversee technical aspects of project work, help lead the firm’s BIM processes, and coordinate with client groups and project collaborators.

Cadorette has previous experience at CetraRuddy and Elkus Manfredi Architects.

With a background in art history, editorial production at McGraw-Hill Education, and exhibition program development for MoMA, prior to architectural study, Iris Kim brings a unique perspective to Cooper Robertson, where she will contribute to the firm’s cultural and museum projects. Kim’s portfolio of architectural work includes design documentation and project management for residential projects in New York City and Brooklyn, the development of Landmarks designation proposals, and research into the development of a new generation of urban museum networks.

Collin Gardner joins Cooper Robertson as a designer with extensive international experience spanning the residential, commercial, and institutional sectors. Prior to joining Cooper Robertson, Gardner co-founded the firm [a] The Architects, with work in New York City and Canada. He has also led design teams for educational and cultural projects in Lebanon, China, Israel, and the United States. A specialist in BIM programs, at Cooper Robertson Gardner will contribute to the firm’s reputation for technical proficiency.

Anjulie Palta is an expert in BIM software and her prior experience includes roles as a resource coordinator and communications specialist at the California-based affordable housing developer EAH Housing, and as a communications manager for the International Forum on Globalization in San Francisco. Most recently she worked at Studio Gang in New York. Palta’s international experience includes research for the design of refugee camps in Germany and planning for urban green space in Delhi, India.

With architectural experience across three continents, Han Qin (Alan) Song’s background in mixed-use, residential, and cultural work makes him a key addition to Cooper Robertson’s practice. A well-rounded designer, his previous roles include serving as a designer at OMA in New York and the Netherlands, where he was part of the design team for a mixed-use tower in Tokyo and an experiential retail project for innovative luxury automotive brand Genesis in Seoul; he also has worked at Neri & Hu Design and Research Office in Shanghai, and for junya.ishigami+associates in Tokyo, where he assisted in design development for the Art BioFarm.

Joining Cooper Robertson as an architect and urban designer, Ireland native Lloyd Helen brings experience in architecture, urban design, and city planning to his work with the firm. Previously based in London, New York, China, and Germany, Helen’s portfolio includes a 300+ key hotel near Heathrow Airport and a new commercial hub for IBM, both in the U.K., as well as land use and zoning analysis with the New York Department of City Planning.

Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Jason Fung is an architectural designer, where he will play an instrumental role in assisting new project layouts and execution. Fung’s previous experience includes project management and design services for a range of renovation and new construction residential work. He is also an expert in BIM software.


Construction veteran Edward Tyll has joined LF Driscoll Healthcare and parent company the Structure Tone organization, a construction managment firm, as Healthcare Estimating Manager.

Tyll brings over 30 years of experience to guide LF Driscoll Healthcare’s increasing work across the New York metro area. In his role, Tyll will focus on enhancing LF Driscoll Healthcare’s estimating team and processes, preparing the department to take on more diverse projects.

LF Driscoll Healthcare’s experience includes planning and building innovative medical facilities such as hospitals, therapy and research centers, medical office buildings and data centers.
