Wendy Silverstein to keynote REW Women’s Forum

Wendy Silverstein, president and CEO of New York REIT, will keynote the 7th annual Real Estate Weekly Womenʼs Forum.

Celebrating the theme Make Your Voice Heard, the forum will be held at The Bar Building in Midtown on June 5, 2018.

Attendees from the real estate, construction, architecture and financing sectors are expected to turn out for what has become a a must-attend event on New York’s real estate calendar.

Silverstein said, “I am honored to be able to share my thoughts and advice to the women attending this important New York real estate industry event.

“I hope to inspire women working in the sector to feel confident in making sure their voices are heard.”

As CEO of New York REIT, Silverstein is leading the winding up and liquidation of NYRT pursuant to a shareholder approved plan of liquidation. She previously served as executive vice president and co‐head of acquisitions and capital markets for Vornado Realty Trust, one of the largest owners of commercial real estate in the U.S., from 1998 to 2015.

As head of capital markets, Silverstein was the principal architect of the financing that fueled the growth of Vornado from a $3 billion New Jersey-based strip center company to a $35 billion office and street retail company.

She was a member of the investment committee for Vornado’s private equity fund, Vornado Capital Partners, and served on the board of directors of Toys R Us and LNR Property.

Prior to joining Vornado in 1998, Silverstein spent 12 years at Citicorp working in corporate debt restructuring helping companies in the airline, hospitality, retail, office and residential real estate industries.

Silverstein earned her Bachelor of Science in economics, Magna Cum Laude, and a Master of Business Administration with Distinction from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
