Shake Shack opening in the West Village

Shake Shack is opening in the West Village.

The fast-food chain has signed a 15-year, 27,000 s/f lease at 225 Varick Street. The new location will house Shake Shack’s new flagship restaurant, home office and test kitchen.

“Shake Shack selected a high visibility, flexible, moderately priced location and space, with an innovative and talented ownership team to grow its global business,” said Cushman & Wakefield’s Mark S. Weiss.

The chain, founded by restaurateur Danny Meyer, has 18 New York City branches, according to its website. This includes its original location at Madison Square Park, as well as outposts in Penn Station, JFK Airport and Grand Central Terminal.

Shake Shack’s new home is a 12-story building near James J. Walker Park. Office tenants in the property include the National Audubon Society and Workman Publishing.

A Cushman & Wakefield brokerage team lead by Weiss represented Shake Shack. Meanwhile, CBRE’s Paul Amrich represented landlord Trinity Hudson Holdings.
