Sustainable fashion company Grassroot by Anita Dongre has leased its first US location.

The celebrated Indian designer will open a store at 484 Broome Street in Soho after signing a lease for 2,500 s/f.

Greg Kim at Sequoia Property Group represented the landlord in the lease while the tenant was represented by Pavan Uttam and Manu Pohani of UP Real Estate Advisors. A household name in her native India — and a favorite of Princess Kate Middleton — Dongre operates three brands under her label; a contemporary line of wone’s wear called AND, Global Desi which is boho-chic and Anita Dongre for bridal, couture and menswear.

Dongre’s Soho store will feature fashions crafted by women artisans from villages across India. According to Racked, she and her designers identify artisans that need work, then amend their designs to suit the group’s skills.
