Related to build 21-story residential building in Roosevelt Island

Related Companies has filed plans to build a 341-unit apartment building at 460 Main Street in Roosevelt Island.

According to a permit application filed with the Department of Buildings, the firm is looking to construct a 21-story building on a lot that 180 feet wide. Plans call for 240,000 s/f of residential space. If the plan is approved as proposed, the building would be 215 feet tall.

The tower will contain 17 apartments each between the second floor and the eleventh floor and 16 apartments each between the 12th floor and the 21st floor. There will also be eleven apartments on the ground floor. Amenities include a fitness room and a recreation room at the cellar and a bicycle room at the ground floor.

The site is currently an empty lot. The planned building would be near another Related project. The firm developed Riverwalk Crossing, a 17-story, 242-unit luxury rental tower at 405 Main Street. It also partnered with Hudson Companies to build the world’s tallest passive house on the Cornell Tech Campus. The project, which will contain 350 residential units for Cornell Tech students and faculty members, is set to open in September.

Handel Architects, the firm that designed the Cornell Tech passive house, is the architect of record for the project.
