Pride flag raised at Newark business center

LaMonica McIver, Newark’s Central Ward Councilwoman, Citi Medina Co-Founder of Equal Space, Rachel Pittard of Onyx Equities, Sharonda “Love” Wheeler of Newark Pride Inc. celebrate Pride Month at Equal Space located at Two Gateway Center in Newark.

Onyx Equities was joined by corporate, civic and elected leaders at Two Gateway Center in Newark to raise the LGBTQ Pride flag.

Onyx promotes inclusion within its own corporate culture. As an extension of this, the firm recognizes the value in deeming its property safe and inclusive space.

Festivities began at Equal Space, located at Two Gateway Center’s Concourse Level, followed by 21-year Gateway Center veteran employee, Vivian Martin, Security Supervisor, raising the flag on the corner of Market Street and McCarter Highway.

The flag will fly throughout June in recognition of Pride Month.

The City of Newark has celebrated Pride Month for decades and raises the Pride flag at City Hall annually.

The Newark Public Library recently joined in the raising of the flag. Gateway Center is now the third location (and the first privately-owned office complex) in Newark to raise the flag in recognition of individuality and equality.
