Mark-Viverito outlines plan to scrap Opportunity Zones

Melissa Mark-Viverito wants to end to the Opportunity Zone Programs.

The candidate for New York’s 15th Congressional District unveiled her campaign’s housing polict that supports the Homes Guarantee, fully funding public housing and enacting a national rent control. “For decades, we have seen our government disinvest in affordable housing, ignore the homelessness crisis, and give billions in handouts to real estate developers,” said Mark-Viverito.“ I am proposing a broad housing agenda that focuses on rebuilding community wealth, reinvesting in our public housing, unrigging affordable housing, eliminating homelessness, and putting an end to the federal Opportunity Zones Programs that for decades has given tax breaks to corporate developers to gentrify communities.”
