Herrick, Feinstein LLP’s real estate department hosted its annual real estate networking event on Wednesday, June 7, under the stars at Bryant Park. The event, now in its 12th year, attracted more than 600 commercial real estate executives.

For almost 90 years Herrick, Feinstein LLP has been an ingrained part of the commercial real estate industry in New York City. The firm was founded as a real estate law firm in 1928, and currently features one of the city’s largest practices.

Over the years Herrick lawyers have advised on many notable transactions and disputes. In the late 1950s, Herrick lawyers advised legendary investor William Zeckendorf in the sale of the Chrysler Building, which at the time was the most expensive building ever sold. In the 1990s, Herrick litigators also advised Japanese billionaire Hideki Yokoi in his battle for control of the Empire State Building; and Herrick later advised Trump Organization in the 2002 sale of the building to a group led by Peter Malkin. Herrick was also lead counsel on the financing, development and construction of the new Yankee Stadium, which opened in 2009.

Recent matters include the rezoning of Bushwick’s Rheingold Brewery site; a $360 million portfolio purchase by Extell Development; Toll Brothers and Starwood Capital’s joint venture development of the Pierhouse at Brooklyn Bridge Park; L&M Development Partners’ financing of a 54-story condominium project overlooking City Hall; a $320 million refinancing for the Woolworth Building’s office condominium; and a U.S. bank’s sale of a 77-property national real estate portfolio to a global investment management fund.
