BFC Partners, developer of New York City’s first outlet center, Empire Outlets, has been nominated by MAPIC: The International Retail Property Market to be part of the USA Country of Honor Special Tribute category in the MAPIC 2015 Awards Competition.
The winners will be revealed during a gala dinner tomorrow (Thursday) at the Grand Hyatt Cannes Hotel Martinez in Cannes, France.
The MAPIC 2015 Awards recognizes excellence, innovation and creativity in the retail real estate industry across 10 categories.
As the United States is this year’s MAPIC Country of Honor, Empire Outlets has been selected as part of the “Top 3” best USA projects submitted at the event.
“We are honored to be nominated by MAPIC for our transformative project on Staten Island’s North Shore, which will soon trigger the transformation of St. George into a leading destination for New Yorkers, tourists and visitors,” said Joseph Ferrara, a partner with Don Capoccia and Brandon Baron at BFC Partners, Empire Outlet’s developer.
James Prendamano of Casandra Properties, the project’s leasing representative, said he has received “unprecedented interest from a multitude of international concepts looking to break into the American marketplace.ˮ
Currently, Empire Outlets is more than 50 percent leased.
