Cushman & Wakefield has recognized Josh Kuriloff and Charles Borrok, both executive vice chairmen of the global real estate services firm, as the Tri-State region’s top office brokers for 2014.
Vice chairman Joanne Podell was also recognized as the firm’s top-producing retail broker for 2014.
With more than 30 years in the industry, Kuriloff has long been one of the company’s highest-volume brokers.
Some of his largest 2014 deals included the relocation of Revlon’s headquarters from Midtown to 150,000 s/f of space Downtown, as well as the consolidation of Mt. Sinai Hospital’s office functions into a 450,000 s/f leasehold condo at 150 East 42nd Street.
Working with Bruce Mosler, Kuriloff also represented Brookfield Property Partners in the leasing of more than 500,000 s/f of space at 5 Manhattan West to JPMorgan and RDA, an Interpublic subsidiary.
He was also part of the Cushman team that represented Vornado in the leasing of more than 600,000 s/f at 1290 Avenue of the Americas to Neuberger Berman and Hachette Publishing.
Charles Borrok, who has long been considered one of the deans of the New York real estate sector, is winning this award for the third time.
He has been involved in the industry for more than 50 years, and has acted as a principal and broker.
Borrok has been involved in the leasing of more than 100 million square feet worldwide.
Before coming to Cushman & Wakefield, Borrok was the president of the New York region of Wm. A. White/Grubb & Ellis.
He has been with Cushman & Wakefield for 23 years and has consistently ranked as one of the company’s highest-performing brokers.
Among his prominent clients include Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation, WNET, and The LeFrak Organization.
He has represented The LeFrak Organization in leasing more than six million square feet of space. Last year he sold an 820,000 s/f tower at the company’s Newport Office Center in Jersey City.
Borrok also represented LeFrak in leasing 92,000 s/f to Forbes, Inc. and was involved in leasing 390,000 s/f to Insurance Services Office, Inc./Verisk Analytics, Inc. at Newport.
He was also involved in the leasing of an additional 220,000 s/f to JPMorgan Chase at Newport.
He has also leased substantial space to Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation in London, Manila and throughout the Far East.
Vice chairman Joanne Podell was responsible for 178,000 s/fof leases last year.
Some of her most notable 2014 transactions included a Nike Flagship Store, an Ann Taylor Expansion store, and a multi-store TD Bank rollout.
A 20-year industry professional, Podell specializes in luxury and specialty retail brokerage in Manhattan, with extensive experience in both tenant and landlord representation.
Some of her other high-profile clients include Converse, Kay Jewelers, and Ethan Allen. On the landlord side, she has represented Starwood Capital Group, Hartz Mountain, The Trump Organization and Madison Capital.
