British men’s clothing retailer lands on Madison Avenue

Former Douglas Elliman broker Joe Aquino and his new company, Joseph A. Aquino Commercial Real Estate Services LLC, just leased a Madison Avenue space to a British menswear designer.

The clothing label Lutwyche signed a lease for 2,950 s/f at 717-719 Madison Avenue, between 63rd and 64th streets. The space encompasses the entire third floor of the building and features 40 feet of frontage, high ceilings, French doors, a front terrace, and a rear patio. The addition of Lutwyche adds to the roster of high-profile clothing designers in the area, which counts Roberto Cavalli, Berluti, Hermes, and Jimmy Choo as neighboring tenants.

Ground-floor tenants of the building include Italian handbag retailer Devi Kroell and Hueb, a luxury jewelry store.

Tony Lutwyche founded the London-based company, which designs made-to-measure and ready-to-wear men’s suits and clothing. Lutwyche has locations within Saks Fifth Avenue department stores in Washington D.C., Chicago, San Francisco, and Beverly Hills, but this is the brand’s first freestanding store location in the U.S.

Aquino represented the tenant in the deal, and Marjorie Nesbit represented the landlord.
