Wilson Sporting Goods to open first NYC store

Newmark Retail announced a long-term 7,163 s/f lease for Wilson Sporting Goods at GFP Real Estate’s 594 Broadway.

In addition to the store, Wilson will be opening a pop-up with New York City’s most iconic tennis event in mid-August. The heritage sports brand is set to open a select collection of retail concepts nationally, with their first New York outpost in Soho.

Newmark’s Vice Chairmen Ariel Schuster and Ben Birnbaum with Associate Director Andrew Taub represented the landlord on the transaction, while Schuster and Vela Retail Advisors’ Jessica Connolly represented the tenant.

Wilson Sporting Goods, a global sports equipment, apparel and accessories brand, launched Wilson Sportswear in the U.S. and China in May 2021. They are creating a total brand experience at the intersection of sports, fashion and culture. Wilson Sportswear, a performance-based, lifestyle athletic apparel line for men and women, is designed to merge sport, fashion and culture. The direct-to-consumer line will be sold exclusively on Wilson’s website and at its retail locations in key markets.

“NYC is the retail epicenter of the U.S. Soho is the perfect setting for Wilson’s flagship store and will allow its millions of current customers to experience the brand in person. We’re confident that the store will become a must-see for both New Yorkers and tourists,” said Schuster.

Formerly known as the Lyons Building, 594 Broadway is a 12-story office building completed in 1898. Initially designed by Buchman & Deisler as a department store, the property is situated along Broadway between the bustling West Houston and Prince Streets.
