Avdoo & Partners Development has signed a new 11,00 s/f lease with Food Garden Market at its new St Marks Place condo development in Boerum Hill.
The fledgling grocer – which has developed a loyal following since opening its first store in Crown Heights – will occupy the building’s entire retail, with 8,000 s/f of ground-level and 3,000 s/f of lower-level space.
“Our vision and passion has always been to open a different type of market that was more aligned with the modern trend of food these days and a concentration on better quality provisions and service most importantly,” said William Duran, Food Garden Market , VP Operations and Partner.
“We felt the timing was good to open a new market to expand our presence here in Brooklyn and we would like our current staff to grow with us also, so we decided to make the move on a new location to achieve both goals. The location of Saint Marks Place needed a different type of market than the normal conventional markets close by.”

Food Garden Market opened its first store at 608 Franklin Avenue in 2019 after dissolving a previous partnership the founders had with City Fresh Market. The store focuses on specialty products, including organic produce, gourmet foods and dietary restrictive products such as vegan, gluten free, keto and paleo, artisan cheeses and butchered premium meats. It’s also big on local provisions and offers a selection of hyperlocal and imported beer.
At its new St Marks Place location, Food Garden Market will also offer prepared meals, a cafe and juice bar. “Overall, we feel it will fit very well with the new building on Saint Marks Place,” said Duran.
Since launching sales at the property in January, developer Shlomi Avdoo’s company has sold just over one quarter of the 100 condos in the building, according to StreetEasy. Prices start at $550,000 for one-bedrooms rising to around $3.7 million for a four-bedroom. Nearly 80 percent of the units feature private outdoor space.
Designed by INC Architecture & Design, the property has a series of landscaped gardens by Terrain, and a 360-degree holistic wellness and fitness environment curated by The Wright Fit.
Brendan Thrapp and Nathaniel Mallon, of 518 Real Estate Advisors, brokered the lease for the landlord. The new Food Garden Market is expected to open by the first quarter of 2022.
