WHO’S NEWS: The latest new hires and promotions

Marcus & Millichap announced that Avi Lasri has joined the firm as Associate Broker in the Manhattan office.

Lasri will focus on his specialties, sales and rentals for mixed-use and multi-family assets, in all five New York City boroughs.

He joins Marcus & Millichap from Douglas Elliman, where he was ranked in the Chairman’s Circle. In the last decade, he has closed over $100 million in sales, and sold and leased more than 500,000 s/f of space in New York.

Prior to joining Douglas Elliman, Lasri was VP at Nest Seekers, where he was responsible for Marketing Luxury Condo Sales. He began his career in the real estate in 2003.


OneTitle National Guaranty Company, Inc. announced the addition of real estate industry expert Rebecca Mason, who will serve as Executive Vice President and Head of Sales.

She joins OneTitle from Stribling & Associates, where she served as Downtown Sales Manager, overseeing approximately 100 sales agents.

Mason brings more than 20 years of real estate experience with a focus on residential brokerage, asset management, construction, commercial leasing, rental and retail leasing, and financing.

She is an active member of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), where she served on the Residential Ethics Committee, the REBNY Ethics and Professional Practices Committee and the Deal of the Year Committee.

She is a past President of the Association of Real Estate Women (AREW), now Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), and has been honored by AREW as one of the Top 50 Women Leaders in Real Estate and a Rising Star in the industry. In 2009, the Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York (ABO) named her Residential Broker of the Year.


R.J. Brunelli & Co. announced that veteran commercial real estate salesperson Peter H. Nicholson has joined the firm as a senior sales associate.

Nicholson brings over 30 years of sales and management experience in the real estate and chemical industries to his new position, including the last 17 years as a licensed salesperson with Metro Commercial Real Estate.

During his tenure with Metro Commercial, Nicholson completed leases with a total revenue consideration of over $300 million for more than 200 tenants, including The Home Depot, Stop & Shop, LA Fitness, Marshall’s, and Chase Bank.

In his capacity as a landlord representative, he most recently served as leasing and de facto project manager on a number of shopping centers undergoing redevelopment.

Prior to joining Metro Commercial in 1999, Nicholson was employed at global chemicals manufacturer Rohm and Haas Company, starting as a development engineer in 1978.

Over the next 21 years, he moved up the ranks, serving as Engineering Group Leader, Technical Sales Representative, Market Manager for General Industrial Coatings, Worldwide Market Manager Architectural Specialty Coatings, and National Account Manager.

Nicholson graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 1978.

He attended the two-year Advanced Management Program at The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1992.


Ayall Schanzer, principal at Greiner-Maltz Realty Advisors, announced that Paul J. Pallett has joined the firm’s Westchester team as an associate broker.

Pallett has more than 34 years of real estate experience under his belt, with a gross amount of leases and sales totaling approximately $200 million since 1980.

After attending SUNY Farmingdale on Long Island, Pallett completed a three-year enlistment in the U.S. Army, returning home in 1969.

Immediately thereafter, he became the owner of a Westchester County distributorship for the Coca Cola Bottling Company of New York.

In 1980, that business was sold and Pallett became a commercial real estate associate broker with Summit Realty Corporation.

For the last 28 years, Pallett has worked for three prominent commercial real estate companies — Friedland Realty, Benson Commercial Realty and Tammerlain Realty.


FirstService Residential announced that senior property managers Maria Auletta and Marc Rishe have been promoted to the position of managing director within the company’s New Development Property Management Division.

In their new roles, Auletta and Rishe will assume the additional responsibility of overseeing the performance of several property managers and assistant property managers while also continuing to manage their respective properties.

Maria Auletta joined FirstService Residential in 2003 as an assistant property manager and was subsequently promoted to positions of increasing responsibility including associate property manager, property manager, senior property manager and managing director.

With more than 16 years of industry experience, she has successfully overseen the execution of a variety of capital improvement projects including façade renovations, window replacements, roof replacements, Local Law 11 projects, and Local Law 87 energy audit and retro-commissioning projects.
Auletta is a past recipient of FirstService Residential’s Star Award, presented to associates recognized as an outstanding performer.

With nearly a decade of experience in the industry, Marc Rishe joined FirstService Residential in 2009 as an assistant property manager.

He, too, quickly rose through the ranks after successive promotions to property manager, senior property manager and managing director. He has proven himself a valuable asset to his portfolio properties as a result of his deep industry knowledge and leadership skills.

Rishe’s tenacity in his roles have yielded success in areas of budget preparation, staff management, contractor negotiations and cost effective maintenance of building systems.


Scott Bank has joined First American Title Insurance Company as vice president and special counsel for the National Commercial Services division.

Bank brings over 20 years of broad real estate experience to First American, with particular expertise in the power generation, energy and infrastructure sectors.

Based in First American’s office at 666 Third Avenue, he will be responsible for sales, business development and transaction management.

Bank arrives at First American from the New York office of an international law firm with a leading project finance practice.

In private practice, he handled a range of high profile energy projects as counsel to numerous banks, insurance companies, private equity firms, opportunity funds, Real Estate Investment Trusts and other national, regional and local investors, owners and developers.

Bank earned his bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University and his law degree from George Washington University.


Douglaston Development announced that Jessica A. Sherman has joined the firm as a Project Manager with the Affordable Housing team.

Before joining Douglaston Development, Sherman earned her MBA from Columbia Business School, and most recently completed an internship as a Sr. Product Manager at Amazon focusing on reverse logistics.

Prior to attending Columbia, Sherman was a Leadership Fellow with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where she assisted in creating a $700 million strategy for Hurricane Sandy recovery and managed a team of more than 50 engineering and operations staff in deploying approximately $60 million for 80 resiliency projects.

She also managed portions of the public-private partnership to redevelop LaGuardia Airport.

Through the course of her career, she has held positions with Spidr Tech, P3 Global Management, Think Global School and Kreab Gavin Anderson.


Hunt Mortgage Group announced that James P. Flynn has been named President.

For the past year and a half, Flynn has been serving as Hunt Mortgage Group’s Executive Managing Director/Chief Investment Officer, overseeing all day to day business activity.
In addition to being President, Flynn will retain his role as Chief Investment Officer of Hunt Mortgage Group.

At Hunt Mortgage Group Flynn has worked in all aspects of commercial real estate including: capital raising, business development, investment and asset management.

Previously he served as a portfolio manager for the firm’s commercial mortgage REIT, raised public equity capital, and served in several critical advisory roles for the firm’s CMBS and high-yield debt funds.

In addition, at one time he led special servicing, the REO and asset disposition units, and managed an equity portfolio consisting of 1,100 multifamily housing properties with more than 120,000 units.
Prior to joining Hunt Mortgage Group, Flynn practiced law at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and before that was an investment banker at Lehman Brothers.

Flynn earned a Juris Doctorate from Columbia University’s Law School and his Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

Olshan Properties announced that Kenneth J. Marshall has joined the firm as Head of Retail.

Marshall will report directly to CEO Andrea Olshan working as a member of her executive team with responsibility for all retail assets.

In this newly created role, Marshall will focus on growing the 10 million square foot retail portfolio through strategic acquisitions, as well as overseeing management of the portfolio’s day-to-day operations.

With a career in retail real estate spanning almost a quarter of a century, Marshall comes to Olshan Properties most recently from retail REIT WP Glimcher where he served as Vice President of Development.
Prior to that, he was Executive Vice President of Colonial Properties Trust’s 11 million square foot commercial division, where he led asset management, leasing, operations, development and capital improvement spending.

Marshall holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with supplemental study in real estate.

He is a registered architect in the state of Illinois.


The UNFCU Foundation, a non-profit organization with a mission to sustain the path out of poverty through healthcare and education for women and children, announced the appointment of Jodi Pulice, Founder and CEO of JRT Realty Group, Inc., to its board of directors.

Pulice joins the board for a one-year term, providing strategic guidance to the UNFCU Foundation.
UNFCU Foundation is closely aligned with the United Nations, as well as other charities and NGOs specializing in efforts to improve the lives of women and children.

In 2015, the first year of its operation, the UNFCU Foundation supported five causes and impacted more than 2,800 individuals through the provision of literacy and job skills training, as well as access to critical healthcare.

Pulice has served as the Founder and CEO of New York City-based JRT Realty Group, Inc. since 1996, when she established her company as a woman-owned, full service commercial real estate services firm.
