WHO’S NEWS: Colliers alum David Simon joins B6 Real Estate Advisors; Lightstone appoints Seth Molod as EVP and CFO

National real estate investor and developer Lightstone announced the appointment of Seth Molod as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

A Certified Public Accountant, Molod has extensive experience across commercial and residential real estate, having worked with many prominent privately-held real estate companies as well as institutional investors, REITs and other public companies.

Previously, Molod was Chair of Real Estate Services and a member of the Executive Committee at Berdon LLP, where he worked for more than 25 years. In this role, he was responsible for oversight of the firm’s advisory practice, where he planned and structured partnerships, mergers and acquisitions and joint venture arrangements to maximize economic and tax benefits.


B6 Real Estate Advisors, an investment sales and capital advisory brokerage firm led by industry veteran Paul J. Massey, Jr., announced the appointment of David A. Simon, SIOR as the firm’s Executive Managing Director of New Jersey operations and as a Partner of the firm.

Simon most recently served as Executive Manager Director and Market Leader of the New Jersey Region for Colliers International.

Prior to that, he held the position of Executive Managing Director at Massey Knakal Realty Services where he led the firm’s New Jersey operations. Simon brings over three decades of experience in management, operational and financial performance, recruiting and brokerage to the growing team of professionals at B6 Real Estate Advisors.

Simon has completed hundreds of transactions on behalf of institutional and local tenants and owners and served as; Managing Principal for the New Jersey office of Cassidy Turley and Chief Operating Officer for Colliers Houston & Co.
He earned a B.S. in Communications from Boston University and an M.S. in Real Estate from New York University.


J.S. Held announced the addition of global construction industry executive, Frederic Samelian, MCIarb, PMP (Retired), to their strategic team.

As Managing Director, Strategy and Development, Samelian will help accelerate growth through both acquisitions and organic growth strategies primarily in construction claims and advisory services.

Samelian has served the needs of the global construction industry for over 40 years. From his early experience working on international and domestic power development projects in the late 1970’s, he later became the President of Hill International, Inc. in the mid-1990s.

Later, Samelian went on to build Hill’s Construction Claims & Consulting Group, which became one of the largest construction claims consulting and advisory businesses in the world from 2005 to 2016 when it was sold to a British private equity fund.

His extensive experience has made him familiar with domestic and international construction and business practices in the United States, United Kingdom, Eastern and Western Europe, Africa, Australia, the Middle East, and Asia.


Greystone announced that has expanded and refocused its team dedicated to serving the Small Loan business.

In addition to naming dedicated Regional Market leaders – Ana Ramos (West), Clint Darby (Central), and Brian Liske (East) – Greystone has added the following loan originators in a number of key locations:

Earlier in 2018, Greystone reached the milestone of providing 1,000 Freddie Mac Small Balance Loans since the program’s inception in October 2014.


Jarrett G. Roth has joined SSRGA as partner.

Roth has private practice experience as well as in-house experience as General Counsel for a privately held company.
His practice focuses on trusts and estates, unclaimed property compliance and asset recovery, and commercial and corporate transactions.

As in-house counsel, Roth regularly counseled his clients on all general corporate matters, including personnel, regulatory compliance and contractual issues.

He has also regularly counseled and represented clients including the Public Administrator of Kings County, New York and publicly traded financial institutions relating to trusts and estates administration, estate planning, estate litigation, unclaimed property compliance and real estate.

Roth has been recognized in Court as an expert in genealogical research and has provided expert testimony in kinship hearings.

He graduated from Indiana University (2002) and from Yeshiva University, Cardozo School of Law (2005).


Norton Rose Fulbright announced that real estate lawyers Jill Block and Marc Shapiro have joined as partners in its New York office, arriving from Mayer Brown.

Block and Shapiro strengthen Norton Rose Fulbright’s highly regarded real estate team in New York and the United States.
Jill Block has significant experience representing buyers and sellers of commercial real estate, investors and developers in joint venture arrangements, and lenders and borrowers in mortgage and mezzanine financing transactions.

She has represented clients in more than 350 hospitality transactions and over 750 commercial loan originations.
Block received her JD from Brooklyn Law School and her BA from Clark University.

Marc Shapiro concentrates on real estate and real estate finance. He counsels lenders, owners and operators in complex financing, purchase, sale and leasing transactions involving office, shopping center, industrial, multifamily and hospitality properties.

His clients include institutional and high net worth parties based in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Shapiro received his JD from the Syracuse University College of Law and his BA from New York University.


Midland States Bank announced changes in the senior management of its Love Funding subsidiary.
Jonathan S. Camps has been appointed president of Love Funding.

Camps has spent the past 19 years in various management positions at Love Funding and most recently served as Senior Vice President.

During the course of his tenure at the firm, he has been involved in every area of its operations, including having served as its Chief Underwriter for five years.

Camps received a B.S. in Finance from the University of Maryland. He is certified as both a MAP and LEAN underwriter with HUD and has overseen the underwriting of more than 300 FHA transactions.


Rudder Property Group announced that Sarah Sakura has joined the firm as Chief Operating Officer.

Sakura will be responsible for the management of the firm, developing new business opportunities, and elevating the firm’s brand presence as the market leader in office condominium sales.

A tech start-up veteran, Sakura has worked in real estate, health tech, and nonprofit sectors. During this time, she was instrumental in a successful acquisition valued at $3.5 million in addition to fundraising a total of $7.8 million in both seed and series A rounds.

Earlier in her career, Sakura worked at Kaye Scholer LLP primarily focusing on business development and financial/data analysis.

She is a graduate of Washington University – St. Louis with magnum cum laude honors.


RHYS Commercial recently announced three new appointments.

John Marinelli was named director overseeing investment opportunities for buyers and sellers representing firms and individuals.

He is a corporate leasing advisor for landlords, tenants and prospective tenants.

Marinelli previously worked as a financial advisor at Northwestern Mutual. He has a bachelor of arts degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and a master’s degree in education/sports pedagogy/from Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York.

Jon Conway is a new associate working in office leasing, retail leasing and investment sales.

Syracuse University graduate, he recently interned at Heyman Properties where he assisted in due diligent process associated with property management and also performed in-depth analysis of Stamford, Connecticut residential multi-family rental market.
