Transwestern directs cancer drug company’s HQ move

Transwestern’s New Jersey office represented Helsinn Therapeutics (U.S.), Inc., a global pharmaceutical company specializing in cancer treatments, in a 33,000 s/f lease for the company’s new U.S. operations headquarters.

Transwestern’s Tenant Advisory Services team, led by Partner James Postell, facilitated the relocation and expansion on behalf of Helsinn Therapeutics and worked with Transwestern’s project management team on the office build-out at 170 Wood Ave. S. in Iselin, New Jersey.

“The technology features, location and accessibility to transportation were all key factors that allowed us to pinpoint this ideal space for Helsinn Therapeutics’ U.S. operations,” said Postell.

“The company’s relocation is representative of a larger trend in  which pharmaceutical companies are continuing to choose New Jersey for offices that are more conducive to their evolving space needs.”

“As we continue to expand our U.S. operations, we felt now was an opportune time to relocate to an office space that better fits our needs,” said Helsinn Therapeutics’ representative, William Mann.

“Once the Metropark area was identified as the right location for us, Transwestern’s understanding of the area and integrated approach to leasing and project management were critical in helping us secure the ideal space.” The Woodbridge/Metropark submarket consists of 6.7 million square feet of office space with 13.6 percent vacancy at the close of first-quarter 2015, according to research by Transwestern.

Helsinn Therapeutics’ ongoing growth was a key focal point for Alan Zambarano, Transwestern’s senior project manager, and the rest of the project team, who worked to ensure that the office layout has the flexibility necessary to address the company’s current and future space requirements.

The Middlesex County property was built out to include new conference rooms, meeting areas and offices. Additionally, Transwestern equipped the space with video conferencing capabilities, allowing Helsinn Therapeutics’ to communicate effectively with its corporate headquarters in Switzerland.

“It’s always exciting to oversee an office project for an innovative company such as Helsinn Therapeutics,” said Transwestern’s Zambarano.

“Teaming with leadership, we’ve implemented upgrades that have transformed the space into one of the most modern offices in New Jersey.”

The building is situated at a confluence of major highways including the Garden State Parkway.
