Cosmetics importer opens on St Marks

Shibuyala, a purveyor of imported beauty and healthcare products from Japan, has signed a lease for its first Manhattan location at 37 St. Marks Place in the East Village.
The 2,000 s/f store is expected to open in early 2019.

“Shibuyala’s aesthetic and unique product offering make the brand a great complement to the existing co-tenancy on St Marks Place,” said Winick Realty Group Executive Vice President Lee Block.

“Ownership is pleased to welcome them to the building and we think they will make a great addition to the block.”

Block represented landlord Walter & Samuels along with Winick Realty Group Executive Vice President Danielle Winick.

Shibuyala was represented by Harrison Abramowitz of Newmark Knight Frank.
“We felt opening in the heart of the East Village would be a great entry point for the brand in the New York market, especially with its proximity to the NYU campus,” said Abramowitz.

“Shibuyala’s offering is unique and they benefit from the constant traffic seen on that block from day to night.”

Shibuyala established its first US store in 2016 and now has three locations in California, with new shops set to open in Boston, Las Vegas, Houston and New Jersey.
