The Riese Organization has secured a long-term lease with TGI Friday’s to take over the former Rosie O’Grady’s space on West 46th Street.
The company — one of the largest restaurant management companies in the city — said TGI Friday’s plans to open its 10th Manhattan location at 147-149 West 46th Street, just east of Broadway.
Riese Restaurants’ president, Gary M. Trimarchi, noted that the location boasts 11,271 s/f of space with 50 ft. of frontage and is scheduled to open in the spring of 2013.

“This vintage 1920’s building is a great space,” added CEO Dennis Riese. “Our guests who were sad to see the closing of the T.G.I. Friday’s at 46th Street and Broadway in 2011 will be delighted as the newest location opens only 200 feet away with a street level bar for gathering, three floors of dining and additional private party space.”
The deal comes following Riese’s acquisition of 211 West 34th Street at Seventh Avenue. The company is offering that space in the heart of Garment District for lease but, if there are no takers, Riese will convert the property itself into a Tequilaville Restaurant & Bar.
The building has 25 feet of street frontage and a total of 8,900 s/f of space, including 2,450 s/f at ground and lower level floors and 2,000 s/f on both the second and third floors. The space is available immediately.
“This space is just steps away from Penn Station, the Macy’s Flagship Department store as well as Madison Square Garden. The foot traffic makes this a desirable location for any retailer. I’m sure we will have a lot of interest from the retail brokerage community,” said Riese.
