Keeping it in the multi-family has these real estate players at the top of their game

By Holly Dutton

The Real Estate weekly Women’s Forum panel “Women who run the (Multi) Family” will feature executives from commercial real estate firms that focus on multi-family sales and development.

Susan Hewitt, partner at The Cheshire Group, real estate investment firm that specializes in New York metro-area multifamily properties, is planning to keep the conversation local.

“We’re looking to make the panel New York-centric and technical rather than general,” she said. “We’ll be speaking about market projections for the city, how we anticipate that interest rates will affect the market, and different neighborhoods and different price points.”

Hewitt’s current projects include Philip House, a pre-war condo building on East 88th Street on the Upper East Side, which The Cheshire Group converted.

Fellow panelist Margaret Streicker Porres, president of Newcastle Realty Services, which she founded in 2004, is looking to talk investment strategy and where the multi-family industry is headed.

Streicker Porres has been responsible for the asset repositioning of more than 50 properties in New York City, specializing in turnarounds of multi-family portfolios and assets ranging from single-family townhomes to whole city blocks.

Before founding Newcastle, she held positions at Tishman Speyer Properties, Citi Habitats, Deloitte & Touche and various architectural firms.

“We’re looking to speak about different investment strategies in this market, mostly focusing on New York City,” said Streicker Porres.

“But also where is multifamily going, possibly demographic trends we’re puck up on as a panel and how that might inform different investment strategies.”

“I think it will be a great, informed panel of a variety of educated women,” she said.

Moderator Suzanne Rosnowski, founder and CEO of public relations firm Relevance New York, will also be joined by panelists Deborah Jenkins, senior vice president in underwriting and credit at Freddie Mac Multifamily, and Toby Moskovits, founder and CEO of Heritage Equity Partners.
Moskovits has spent the past 12 years advising companies on strategic and operational growth strategies.
