The concept store is Rains’ first location in Brooklyn and second in the U.S., following the 2017 opening of a location on Lafayette Street in Soho. The new store occupies a portion of the retail space at the base of the seven-story mixed-use building that opened in May of 2018. Its 75 apartments are fully leased.

“Rains is a great complement to the other retail offerings at House No. 94 and we are excited to welcome customers to their new space,” said Alison Novak, Principal at the Hudson Companies Inc. “The Scandinavian aesthetic and functionality of the Rains product is so great you can appreciate them even on a sunny day, but especially as we head into these blustery winter months.”

“It’s a pleasure to finally open a RAINS store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn,” said Line Vinther Bentsen, Retail Manager, New York, Rains. “We love the area and the energy, and we love the fact that people in Williamsburg support local stores. In our opinion, Williamsburg is a local community known for its culture and independent shops. We’re excited to be a part of that. Our new store is located in a great environment on North 3rd Street, which gave us the opportunity to exercise the same design principles found in each RAINS store. The interior of the store is thoughtfully designed to use the high ceilings in the space and to mimic and represent the minimalistic looks of a RAINS store.”

Founded in Demark in 2012 eith a single poncho design, Rains creates high-end functional rainwear, from apparel, to bags, and other accessories to withstand stormy weather in urban environments.

Rains’ opening at House No.94 comes after Hudson Companies signed a 2,200 s/f lease with A.P.C., a French fashion retailer in the summer of 2019. The fashion label, which has 73 stores around the world, offers a full collection of clothing and accessories for men and women and is quickly becoming a desirable brand for effortless, cool fashion.

[solidcore] also signed on to occupy 1,880 s/f in the building in February 2019. The boutique fitness studio provides a high-intensity, low impact, full body workout that combines Pilates and strength training. It’s a favorite workout spot for athletes, CEOs and even former First Lady Michelle Obama.

The area around North 3rd Street and Metropolitan Avenue, continuing east to Bedford Avenue, has become one of the most popular shopping destinations in Brooklyn. A wide variety of dining, entertainment and daily-needs retailers provide a full suite of neighborhood amenities for area residents, and there are thousands of residential units slated for delivery in 2019.

Rains at House No.94 will join the growing ranks of prominent national retailers that have opened up in the neighborhood, including Shake Shack, Blue Bottle Coffee, SoulCycle, Supreme, RRL, Levi’s and Aesop.
