New York’s City Planning Director Carl Weisbrod will be a keynote speaker at the Only Brooklyn Real Estate Summit on May 6.
The all-day conference, hosted by TerraCRG, aptsandlofts.com and The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, will shine a spotlight on one of the hottest real estate markets in the country.
In the last three years, the price of land in the borough has more than doubled, according to Ofer Cohen, president and partner of TerraCRG.
In an interview with the New York Times last month, the broker said new developers are coming into Brooklyn “because that’s where the growth is.ˮ
Apartment rents have been increasing a 10 percent a year over the past four years versus four percent in Manhattan, and most new developments in Brooklyn are rentals, not condos.
The Only Brooklyn Summit will drawn together experts from various fields to dissect a market that’s gone from $1 to $5 billion in trades in the last four years.
Confirmed speakers include Jared Kushner of Kushner Companies, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Tucker Reed of Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, Mitchell Hochberg of The Lightstone Group, Asher Abehsera of LIVWRK Holdings, and AJ Pires of Alloy.

Before being appointed as director of the New York City Department of City Planning and Chairman of the New York City Planning Commission in March, Weisbrod was instrumental in transforming Downtown Manhattan into a growing market. He headed the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation for several years, while also serving as the founding president of the Alliance for Downtown New York, the largest business improvement district in the country.
