MIPIM, the real estate market, conference and networking event, announced a collaboration with the Brookings Institution; a private nonprofit organization devoted to independent research and innovative policy solutions, for one of the MIPIM 2016 conferences.
A conference session made possible by Lennar International will examine Brookings’s research findings on the creation of innovative urban developments throughout the U.S., Europe, and other global regions.

At MIPIM 2016 the program will include a session titled, ‘Innovation districts: a new urban development model emerging in the United States’, co-organized with the Brookings Institution and panel sponsor Lennar International.
The session will focus on the heightened clustering of anchor institutions, companies and startups in small geographic areas of central cities, which are emerging across the United States, Europe, and other global regions.

“Innovation Districts” will take place on Wednesday, March 16 and will be moderated by Julie Wagner, non-resident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution and co-author of “The Rise of Innovation Districts”.
The session’s speakers will include Bruce Katz, Brookings Institution vice president and co-author of
“The Rise of Innovation Districts”; Chris Marlin, president of Lennar International; Kofi Bonner, president of Lennar Urban San Francisco; John Fry, president of Drexel University in Philadelphia; Thomas Osha, managing director of Wexford Science and Technology; Rip Rapson, president and CEO of the Kresge Foundation, located in metro Detroit; and Tim Rowe, founder and CEO of Cambridge Innovation Center.
Brookings’s research has found that cities in the United States are witnessing particularly robust growth, prompting district leaders and both international and national investors to alter traditional development and investment practices.
The conference session will examine three innovation districts and how a diverse set of city builders and investors are fundamentally altering how they design and develop districts to realize their full innovation potential.
Launched in 1990 and organized by Reed MIDEM, the 27th edition of MIPIM takes place in Cannes, France, March 15-18, 2016 and offers real estate centric programs, deal-making opportunities, exhibition facilities, educational opportunities, and networking events.
