Gene Kaufman-designed 27-story hotel to rise at 305 West 48th near Times Square

Parking lot operator Bright Management, Inc. has filed plans to build a 27-story hotel building at 305 West 48th Street near Times Square.

According to a permit application filed with the Department of Buildings, the firm is looking to construct a 211-key hotel. The planned 59,134 s/f tower will sit on a 50-foot wide lot. If approved as proposed, the tower would be 303-feet tall.

Plans call for eight hotel rooms each between the second to seventh floors. The room count gets bumped up to nine each between the eighth to 26th floors. Bright Management plans to have a bar and lounge with outdoor seating in the lobby and the rooftop.

The site, which contained a parking lot, came on the market in April of last year. Eastern  Consolidated marketed a 99-year ground lease at the property. Aside from 37,500 s/f of zoning floor area, the site also offered 21,677 s/f of air rights from the adjacent lot at 795 Eighth Avenue.

Gene Kaufman Architects is the architect of record for the project. The developer plans to break ground on the site in August.
