African American Real Estate Professionals (AAREP LA) Announces New Leadership and Names New Board Members

With the untimely passing of AAREP LA’s president, William “Bill” Yarbro https://bit.ly/3L1qb5e, the organization has undergone a leadership change. Kimberly Brown, Managing Director, Cushman & Wakefield will take the helm alongside industry veteran Troy Jenkins, Principal and Director of Investment management, Avison Young.

The organization also welcomes executive and advisory board members Jamie Brooks, First Vice
President, CBRE; and the return of Ben Green, Managing Director, Western Region Asset Management, Barings Real Estate (a founding board member).

The all-volunteer, Board of Directors serves as the governing body for AAREP LA. The Board provides
strategic direction, sets policy, and provides governance oversight for the growing 750 rostered
organization. Sponsors include Cushman & Wakefield, CBRE, JLL, Eastdil Secured, Barings Real Estate, Brookfield Properties, Primestor Development, OneUnited Bank, Avanath Capital Management and Langdon Park Capital.

Ben Green – Returning the Board of Directors, Green is Managing Director, Western Region Asset
Management, Barings Real Estate where he is responsible for a portfolio of office, multi-family, retail, and industrial properties in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego. Green leads a national team of office asset managers responsible for Barings’ U.S. office portfolio. Establishes best practices and collaborates with local/regional teams on office asset performance and office acquisitions. Green is a graduate of the University of Southern California.

Jamie Brooks – Jamie K. Brooks is a First Vice President with CBRE, with 18 years of Commercial Real Estate experience and over $1B in Gross Lease/Sale Value Consideration. His proven in-market knowledge, financial expertise, and store placement success makes him an invaluable asset to the company, and uniquely positions him to assist clients through the entire real estate process. A vital element of Jamie’s success is his long-standing relationships with the majority of the owners, buyers and developers in the Southern California marketplace. Brooks is a graduate of Occidental College.
