WHO’S NEWS: The latest new hires, promotion, and honors

JLL announced the appointment of economics expert Ryan Severino as Chief Economist to direct macroeconomic analysis and property forecasting for JLL as an integrated component of the company’s research program.

In this newly created role, Severino will be responsible for analyzing key global and regional macroeconomic, demographic and industry trends and indicators to predict implications for the commercial real estate market. Severino also will leverage his expertise to produce customized advisory projects for clients. He will be a member of JLL’s research leadership team reporting to Ben Breslau, Managing Director, Americas Research.

Severino’s original research has appeared in publications including The Real Estate Finance Journal and Wharton Real Estate Review.

He joins JLL from Reis Inc., where he served as Director of Research and Senior Economist. He also held research leadership roles at MetLife Real Estate Investments, Starwood Capital Group and Prudential Real Estate Investors. Severino teaches economics and portfolio, risk and investment management at Columbia University and New York University.

Severino earned a Bachelor of Science degree with majors in finance and Japanese from Georgetown University and a Master of International Affairs degree with a focus on finance and economics at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. He is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) Institute and a CFA charterholder, as well as a member of the American Economic Association, National Association for Business Economics and the Urban Land Institute.

Sam Nidenberg has joined Metropolitan Realty Associates as an associate. He will underwrite and research new acquisition opportunities, as well as analyze debt and refinancing structures on behalf of the firm and its equity partners.

Prior to joining MRA, Mr. Nidenberg was a senior analyst at HFF, where he was responsible for underwriting and preparing offering memorandums for real estate transactions spanning all major property, investment, and partnership types.

Earlier in his career as a financial analyst at Greenfield Partners, he assisted the firm in the strategic oversight of investments and in the acquisition underwriting process.
Mr. Nidenberg graduated from Hamilton College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and
Mathematics.

Borah, Goldstein, Altschuler, Nahins & Goidel, P.C, a New York Real Estate law firm continues to grow with the recent addition of eight attorneys.

Virginia Trunkes has joined the firm as a partner focusing on Appellate Court Litigation, Supreme Court Litigation and Construction Law. She brings a wealth of commercial, real estate and construction litigation experience in advocating on behalf of real property owners, tenants in common, landlords, tenants, developers, condominium and cooperative boards and individual unit owners. She was previously with the firm of Ganfer & Shore LLP.

Patricia L. Feldman has joined as Counsel in the firm’s Commercial Division where she handles Non-Payment and Holdover Proceedings. She previously served as in-house counsel to Newcastle Realty Services LLC, a real estate management and development company with a portfolio of over 2,500 units, and prior thereto was in private practice where she gained extensive experience in real estate litigation, with a focus on commercial and residential landlord-tenant litigation in NYC, leasing and real estate transactions.

Elizabeth Lentini is an associate in the firm’s Administrative Division, concentrating primarily in the areas of rent regulatory compliance and related landlord-tenant litigation. Prior to joining the firm, she was general counsel to Public Housing Authorities in New Jersey.

Bruce Goldstein has joined the firm as a senior associate in the firm’s Landlord/Tenant division representing residential and commercial clients. Previously in private practice, he has over 25 years and his background includes in depth experience with residential and commercial real estate contracts and closings.

Kacey Sou is now practicing as an associate in our Supreme Court Litigation Division, focusing on commercial and residential landlord litigation. She significantly contributed to the team since 2013 as a summer intern and then as a law graduate.

Daniel P. Sodroski is now practicing as an associate in the firm’s Supreme Court Litigation Division where he focuses on residential and commercial landlord-tenant litigation. He had been a summer associate with the firm in 2013 and 2014.

Jeri Essagof has joined the firm as an associate in its Administrative Division, maintaining administrative cases before the DHCR.

Ka Ni Li has joined as an associate in the firm’s Supreme Court Division.

Newmark Holdings has further bolstered its team with the addition of seasoned real estate professional Courtney Adham. The announcement was made by co-CEOs Eric Gural and Brian Steinwurtzel.

An accomplished real estate professional, Ms. Adham will serve as executive managing director of marketing and strategic initiatives at Newmark Holdings, where she will be responsible for leading the corporate and portfolio strategic marketing, while collaborating with a variety of other departments. She will also be overseeing the firm’s new branding initiatives as well as the design strategies on the property level.

Ms. Adham brings more than a decade of strategic agency experience to the table. Her select clients have included The Trump Organization, Paramount Group, Goldman Sachs, Jack Resnick & Sons, Jamestown Properties, Kushner Properties, Invesco, Northwood Investors, Stellar Management, Rockpoint Group, Durst Organization and NY/NJ Port Authority. Her notable agency leasing assignments have included 77 Water Street, 40 Wall Street, 60 Wall Street, 100 Broadway, 199 Water Street, 225 Park Avenue South, One Soho Square and One World Trade Center.

Ms. Adham was most recently a managing director in the Manhattan headquarters of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, where she helped to establish the firm’s Strategic Agency Group (SAG). Exclusively serving Manhattan’s landlord clientele, SAG’s specialized solutions integrate the leasing, marketing, asset management and strategic positioning of assets to develop holistic, custom-tailored agency strategies. As a part of the leasing team, SAG professionals enhance the property positioning, lease negotiation, transaction management and financial analysis service offerings.

Prior to this, Ms. Adham served as a managing director in the Strategic Agency Services division of Cushman & Wakefield. Preceding her tenure with C&W, she was an asset manager at Waterman Interests, LLC, where she oversaw all leasing and asset management services for Waterman’s Manhattan portfolio. Earlier in her career, Ms. Adham served as a real estate professional at Allied Partners Inc., a private real estate investment company, where she worked in both the asset management and leasing departments. She began her career at Reckson Associates Realty Corp., where she provided leasing services for a portfolio of Class A commercial office buildings in excess of 5.6 million square feet throughout Manhattan.

Ms. Adham is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York and the International Council of Shopping Centers.

Ms. Adham is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a B.A. in communications. She obtained a Certificate of M.S. in Real Estate from New York University.

Bergman Real Estate Group announced that David Iacobucci has joined as Senior Investment Manager, based in the firm’s Iselin, New Jersey office. In this role he will be responsible for asset management of the firm’s Northern New Jersey office properties and for sourcing new capital to grow the company’s investment and management portfolio.

A twenty-five year veteran of the commercial real estate industry, Iacobucci has focused throughout his career on value-add opportunities in office and industrial property. His varied real estate experience includes asset management, acquisitions, dispositions and development.

Iacobucci’s prior experience includes nearly 10 years at Baker Properties as Division Manager of the company’s Mid-Atlantic Region, where he was hired to open a New Jersey office and he led the acquisition, development, leasing and disposition of over four million square feet of industrial property. Prior to joining Baker Properties, Iacobucci oversaw the successful re-positioning and sale of an opportunistic office portfolio and was responsible for the acquisition, development and leasing of several new build-to-suit and speculative office properties for a regional full service real estate company.

David is a graduate of Tufts University, a licensed real estate salesperson and a member of the New Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP).

AmTrust Title Insurance Company announced that Debra G. Hochman, a 20-year veteran of the title industry, has joined AmTrust Title as Vice President, Business Integration.

Prior to joining AmTrust, Ms. Hochman was Vice President for one of the largest public title insurance companies, Ms. Hochman earned a Master’s degree from New York University’s School of Arts and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Marcus & Millichap announced that Fahri Ozturk, formerly of Cushman & Wakefield, has joined the firm as associate vice president of investments, according to J.D. Parker, senior vice president- district manager of the firm’s New York Metro area. Ozturk will be based in the company’s New Jersey office, led by Regional Manager Brian Hosey.

In his new position, Ozturk will specialize in investment sales in New Jersey’s Hudson County. He comes to Marcus & Millichap from Cushman & Wakefield where he served as director in the Capital Markets Group. Previously, he was director of sales at Massey Knakal Realty Services, which was acquired by Cushman & Wakefield in 2014, and investment associate at Arsenal Real Estate Partners, carrying out a range of responsibilities in acquisitions, dispositions, and asset and portfolio management. Prior to serving in those roles, Ozturk was an asset manager and analyst at Thor Equities, working directly with the CEO and CFO, and managing several retail and office properties.

Ozturk was recently named Real Estate Forum’s 2016 Fifty Under 40. He earned his Master of Science degree in Real Estate Finance and Investments from New York University and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance and Investments from Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business. He is fluent in Turkish.

Alexander Anderson Real Estate Group has announced that Kenneth Brown has joined the firm as vice president of Hudson County sales, and that Diana Vasquez has joined the firm as vice president of the commercial division for Hudson County. The two join the firm in brand new positions that were created to direct and manage the growth of the firm’s Hudson County office.

Specifically, Brown will head up Alexander Anderson’s Jersey City office and is responsible for directing the firm’s operations in Hudson County. With more than 15 years’ experience in luxury and investment property sales, as well as new development projects, he has held positions with the Level Group, a Manhattan-based brokerage; The Corcoran Group and Douglas Elliman Real Estate. Brown earned a B.A. from Hunter College and resides in New York City.

Vasquez brings her five years’ experience in both New York City and New Jersey investment sales and commercial leasing to Alexander Anderson where she will focus on commercial sales, leasing and development in the region. A resident of Jersey City, she joins the firm from Keller Williams Commercial Division.

A former Marine and loan officer, Vasquez holds a certificate in Real Estate Financial Analysis from New York University School of Professional Studies and a B.A in Marketing from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
