WHO’S NEWS: Compass hires new COO; Former CNBC economist joins LeadingRE

Compass has hired Maëlle Gavet as chief operating officer.
Gavet will oversee technology, product, marketing, and other corporate functions, and will report to co-founder and chief executive officer Robert Reffkin.

Named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, one of Fortune’s 40 Under 40 and one of the Most Creative People in Business by Fast Company, Gavet has experience managing strategy and operations for some of the world’s largest technology companies.
Most recently, Gavet oversaw global operations at The Priceline Group where she was tasked with driving the company’s strategy and integrating its six major brands: Booking.com, priceline.com, KAYAK, agoda.com, rentalcars.com and OpenTable.
Prior to The Priceline Group, she was the chief executive officer of Russia’s largest e-commerce site and a principal at The Boston Consulting Group where she served technology, media and telecommunications companies in Europe, India and South Africa.

William Raveis New Development Services, a division of William Raveis Real Estate, Mortgage & Insurance, announced the appointment of Donna Lee Blais to director of business development.
A licensed Realtor since 1982, Blais brings a keen knowledge to the position through her proficiency in marketing new construction developments throughout Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Ulster, Orange and Dutchess counties.
She specializes in on-site sales throughout all phases of the development process, from raw land to finished models. She is a top sales producer and experienced in setting up on-site sales centers for new construction developments.
Before joining William Raveis, Blais was the owner/broker of Northridge Realty, where, beginning in 1986, she worked exclusively with builders and developers to market their new construction project.
She has successfully marketed properties in more than 22 communities, ranging from small subdivisions to 200-unit condominium complexes to luxury, million-dollar home developments.
Blais, who is based in William Raveis’ Somers office, is a member of the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors and the Ulster County Board of Realtors.

Mdrn. Residential has hired three key personnel to its management team.
Dan Berman will be Mdrn. Residential’s sales director responsible for training and educating new brokers in all facets of New York City residential sales as well as helping seasoned brokers in building their sales volume.
He comes to the firm with 30 years of real estate experience, most recently as sales manager of Bellmarc Realty’s Midtown office, as well as a previews broker with Coldwell Banker.

Olinda Turtturo

Olinda Turturro has been hired as the firm’s Director of Talent. In this role Turturro will be responsible for bringing on new and seasoned industry talent to the firm.
Turturro’s most recent experience comes on the heels of expanding Weichert Properties operations in New York City to over 100 agents across three offices, inside of a 18-month period with the firm. At Weichert, she was an associate broker and vice president of recruiting responsible for attracting and hiring agents.
Turturro began her real estate career as an agent 35 years ago and went on to head recruiting for BOND New York during the 2000s. She was instrumental in the growth of the former AC Lawrence, which eventually became Coldwell Banker Bellmarc Group.
Additionally Mdrn. has signed on Meza Eythel as Listings Manager, a role he previously undertook at Bellmarc Realty and AC Lawrence.
Eythel will manage key landlord and management relationships for Mdrn., many of which have been developed over his 19 year career in real estate. Eythel began his role as a listings manager at BOND New York.

FirstService Residential announced the promotion of Christina Forbes to the position of senior vice president in the company’s Property Management Division.
Forbes will assume executive oversight for several teams of property management professionals within the organization that specialize in the management of cooperatives and condominiums throughout New York City.
Forbes joined the company in 2009 as an onsite senior property manager at Lincoln Towers.
Her outstanding performance and high standard of excellence earned her a promotion to managing director in 2012, and to vice president in 2014, before achieving her current position as senior vice president in 2017. “
Forbes possesses over two decades of experience in asset and property management.
Her forté is her analysis of a property and its management operations, and the ability to maximize service levels while identifying areas requiring expense control.

Compass has hired Lenny Beckerman-Rodau as director of agent experience.
Beckerman-Rodau will lead the 30-person team responsible for onboarding new agents to Compass, training them on Compass technology, and providing day-to-day support and professional development.
Beckerman-Rodau joins Compass from the luxury, short-term rental platform, onefinestay, where he was global director of sales.
Prior to onefinestay, he served as general manager at ZeroCater, a food catering startup. He also spent more than 10 years in planning and operations at Vive Émotion, an event production company that worked with many of the world’s largest events, including the Olympics, the Rugby World Cup, the U.S. Open Tennis Championships, the New York City Marathon, and headline artists, such as B.B. King, in concert.

Leading Real Estate Companies of the World (LeadingRE) announced the appointment of Marci Rossell as the company’s first chief economist.
Rossell, Ph.D., has a long history in analyzing the economic market from an international perspective.

Former Chief Economist for CNBC and a groundbreaking financial journalist, Rossell also served as corporate economist and investment spokesperson for OppenheimerFunds.
She began her career as an economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and earned a Ph.D. in economics from Southern Methodist University.
In her new role, Rossell will provide updates and strategic economic insights for members of LeadingRE, as well as Luxury Portfolio International, the luxury face of the company.
