Thor Equities will deliver the space fully renovated and upgraded with new glass walls and doors, oak hardwood flooring, and a new kitchen with porcelain tiling and Caesarstone countertops.

GCT Constructors, which was recently awarded an MTA contract to build the future Long Island Rail Road Concourse at Grand Central Terminal, has leased the entire fourth floor at 597 Fifth Avenue for a total of 6,364 s/f.

Thor is also delivering this floor fully renovated.

Christel Engel of Colliers International represented the landlord in both transactions.
Also known as the Charles Scribner’s Sons Building, 597 Fifth Avenue was built in 1913 to house the Scribner’s Bookstore.

The 12-story building was designed by Ernest Flagg in a Beaux Arts style, with a limestone and ornate iron front and detailed façade. It was designated a New York City landmark in 1982.

Owned entirely by Thor Equities, 597 Fifth Avenue comprises a total of 59,570 s/fof office space.
The building’s retail levels are occupied by Sephora, totaling 15,660 s/f on the ground floor and mezzanine, with 54 ft. of frontage on Fifth Avenue and an additional 26 ft. of frontage on 48th Street.

“597 Fifth is a jewel in the crown of Fifth Avenue just below 50th Street, which has become the retail corridor’s new center of gravity, boasting an eclectic mix of stores and the highest amount of foot traffic in Midtown,” said Melissa Gliatta, executive vice president of Thor Equities.
