The Rockefeller family will be closing the book on their eight-decade stay in Room 5600 at 30 Rockefeller Plaza by the summer of 2015.
The family company will move to a smaller, 75,000 s/f space at One Rockefeller Plaza, a block south.
“It was a business decision,” said Moshe Sukenik, an executive vice president at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank who represented the Rockefellers along with Michael Ippolito and Brian Cohen.
“You basically had a family that went through the process thoroughly from A-Z. They did consider all the factors that were important to them. At the end of the day they looked at all the options in the city and this actually made the most sense.”
Sukenik described the family’s ability to stay within Rockefeller Center as “icing on the cake” and touted the new address as having “great light, great views, great building management.”
“Location obviously speaks for itself,” he said.
