RFR Realty LLC announced a lease expansion for National Liability & Fire Insurance at 17 State Street, RFR’s 42-story downtown Emery Roth & Sons-designed office tower featuring unobstructed views of New York Harbor.
National Liability & Fire Insurance, based in Omaha, NE, is a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary that provides fire and casualty insurance.
The company expanded into a full floor at 17 State Street, leasing a total of 13,758 square feet of space there on the 20th floor.
“Tenants have been flocking to 17 State Street and expanding there from a diverse mix of disciplines, enticed because of its proximity to transit, the capital improvements we’ve completed, and the building’s standing as an architectural gem,” said RFR Director of Leasing Steve Morrows, who represented RFR in the transactions along with AJ Camhi and Ryan Silverman.
“We are happy that National Liability & Fire Insurance decided to grow in the building and take up one of its last blocks of space.”
John Barry, a broker with Transwestern, represented National Liability & Fire Insurance in the lease expansion.
This expansion follows several recently announced deals in the building, which have brought its occupancy rate to near 100 percent.
Among these, software company IPsoft leased 97,955 square feet lease and law firm Bressler, Amery & Ross leased 23,033 square feet. In all, including these most recent leases, 17 State Street has had more than 200,000 square feet of leasing activity in the past twelve months.
Situated at the corner of State and Pearl streets across from Battery Park, 17 State Street offers outstanding access to multiple modes of transportation, great restaurants, shopping and culture.
The property is close to multiple subway lines, ferries to Staten Island and New Jersey, the New York Water Taxi and the Downtown Heliport.
