O’Donnell & Naccarato Celebrates Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of Stockton University Residence Hall in Atlantic City

O’Donnell & Naccarato (O&N), a leading and employee-owned structural engineering firm headquartered in Philadelphia, marked the completion of Stockton University’s Phase II Residence Hall with a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday, May 3 in Atlantic City.

The six-story, 135,000 square foot student housing complex, located in the city’s Chelsea Heights section, features apartment- and suite-style living, with a total of 416 beds, as well as lounges, a meeting room, business center and laundry facilities. The building is part of the multi-phase Atlantic City Gateway Project, a public-private partnership with the Atlantic City Development Corporation that reinforces Stockton’s role as an Anchor Institution dedicated to attracting a diverse and educated workforce.

O&N provided structural engineering services for both phases of the project, which also included construction of the three-story, 56,000 square foot steel-framed Scarpa Academic Center, along with two other residence halls totaling 224,000 square feet and 543 beds. The residence halls are supported by the Girder-Slab structural system and are connected by a series of multi-story pedestrian bridges.

“O&N is honored to partner with AC DevCo and architect Thriven Design to help Stockton University expand its already impressive presence in Atlantic City,” said Anthony Naccarato, PE, SE, F.ASCE, President of O&N. “These buildings will ensure that the university is well positioned to continue attracting the best and brightest minds for many years to come.”

O&N has completed a number of large-scale education projects in New Jersey, including the renovation of Hackensack Meridian Health School of Medicine, Essex County College, Perth Amboy High School and the Dayton Educational Campus for grades K-12. The firm has also provided structural engineering services for many higher education facilities across the country, including Swarthmore College, University of Virginia, Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania and Indiana University.
