NAI James E. Hanson Negotiates Lease to Bring First Retail Tenant to Brand New Hackensack Mixed-Use Building

NAI James E. Hanson, the largest New Jersey-based full-service independent commercial real estate firm, announces it has negotiated a lease with Gong Cha for 1,050 square feet of retail space at 210 Main Street in Hackensack, N.J. NAI James E. Hanson’s Anthony Cassano, Vice President, represented the landlord, 210 Main Urban Renewal/Hackensack Investors, LLC, and the tenant, Gong Cha, in the transaction.

Opened in 2021, 210 Main Street is a dramatic reimagining of a nearly 100-year-old former bank headquarters in downtown Hackensack. By preserving the building’s unique architecture and iconic dome, 210 Main Urban Renewal/Hackensack Investors, LLC has created one of New Jersey’s most unique mixed-use properties.

The building boasts 126 luxury residences that are complimented by over 4,500 square feet of ground-level retail. In addition, the building’s downtown location affords it easy access to Hackensack’s downtown redevelopment zone with a wide range of new restaurants, shops and entertainment options. The building is also easily accessible to Hackensack University Medical Hospital, the Shops at Riverside, the Bergen County Courthouse and Routes 4, 46, and 80.

Recognizing NAI James E. Hanson’s deep history in the market, the landlord tapped the firm to help to attract unique retail tenants for 210 Main Street’s two ground-level retail spaces. Established in Taiwan in 1996, Gong Cha is an international beverage franchise specializing in freshly prepared bubble tea and has opened over 1,650 cafes in 20 countries. Its new Hackensack location will bring a one-of-a-kind bubble tea and coffee bar to the city to further expand the range of retail options available to residents and visitors alike.

“Hackensack’s continued redevelopment continues to present a great opportunity for retail tenants hoping to tap into one of the state’s fastest-growing cities,” said Cassano. “With thousands of residential units coming online over the next several years and critical infrastructure improvements already underway, we are excited to continue to work closely with landlords to help them bring high-quality tenants to properties like 210 Main Street across the city.”

210 Main Street currently has 3,477 square feet of retail space available for lease. To learn more, please contact Anthony Cassano at 201-488-5800 x146.
