Medics make it 97 percent at Riverdale Crossing

CITYMD, a provider of urgent care medical services, has signed a long term lease at the new Riverdale Crossing shopping center in the Bronx.

Joseph A. Farkas, president of Metropolitan Realty Associates (MRA) and the project’s developer, announced that CITYMD has taken 7,200 s/f in the retail complex that is completing construction between the Major Deegan Expressway and Broadway, adjacent to the New York City subway’s (1 Train) 238th Street stop.

BJ’s Wholesale Club anchors the project, which is set to open in June 2014.

“CITYMD’s focus on convenience, quality of service and superior medical care makes them a leader in the urgent care industry with over 10 New York locations and growing” Farkas said. “I am pleased to have them join our roster of tenants.ˮ

The deal brings the pre-construction lease up of Riverdale Crossing to 97 percent which in addition to BJ’s Wholesale Club includes Bank of America, T-Mobile, SUBWAY, Smashburger, PETCO and Buffalo Wild Wings Bar and Grill, according to Farkas. The 162,000 s/f two-building retail center will offer parking on a surface lot and rooftop deck, a rare convenience among retail centers in the Bronx.

It is being developed by Metropolitan Realty Associates and its long time equity partner Angelo, Gordon & Co., LP who together purchased the former Stella D’Oro Factory in August 2011.

CITY MD was represented by Benjamin Birnbaum of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank Retail and Marty Deitch of Aries, Deitch and Edelson. The landlord was represented by John Hanlon of CBRE.
