Robert K. Futterman & Associates arranged the long-term, 1,140 s/f lease for Ghurka at 781 Fifth Ave.
The Ghurka flagship will occupy 915 s/f on the ground-floor and 225 s/f in the basement at its new Fifth Avenue space.
Rob Cohen, RKF’s executive vice president and president of the Southern California Division, Peter Whitenack, managing director, and Jackie Totolo, director, represented landlord, The Sherry-Netherland, while Steven Orfali, vice president of the Orfali Group, represented the tenant.
Ghurka already has one Manhattan outlet within The Plaza Retail Collection. “Ghurka is a prominent luxury brand that has been associated within one of Manhattan’s most recognizable hotels,” said Cohen.
“This new and highly visible Fifth Avenue location will offer the retailer access to year-round shoppers and a distinguished street presence among other major co-tenants that include Cipriani and Domenico Vacca.”
Founded in 1975, Ghurka has become one of the most distinguished makers of fine leather goods in America. The high-end leather brand is host to collections of exceptional bags, luggage and men’s and women’s accessories with products featured in select specialty and department stores worldwide.
* A headline in the print version of Real Estate Weekly, July 27, 2011, wrongly indicates Ghurka exited its lease at The Plaza. This is not the case.
