Howard L. Parnes of Houlihan-Parnes Realtors dead at 86

Howard L. Parnes, a partner at Houlihan-Parnes Realtors since 1967, died April 21 at the age of 86.

Parnes had been active in real estate finance, management and ownership for over 49 years, according to a bio on the firm’s website.

Over the past four decades he had literally been involved in the acquisition, ownership and/or sale of over five thousand properties, largely throughout the New York area and around the country. While his extensive portfolio covered virtually all types of investment real estate, he specialized principally in office buildings shopping centers and taxpayers, along with high-rise, mid-rise and garden apartment buildings.

Parnes became a partner of Houlihan Parnes Realtors, LLC in 1967. During his career, Parnes purchased multi-family properties, as well as commercial and warehouse properties. He established a mortgage servicing company, which in more than 20 years,  serviced well over hundreds of millions of dollars of mortgage loans for his account as well as for institutions.

Parnes recently formed a management company to run his various properties in New York and around the country. Parnes and his staff formed investor groups, arranged financing with the assistance of the Houlihan Parnes Realtors’ mortgage brokerage department. Additionally, he maintained a substantial portfolio of mortgages and properties across the country, which includes approximately 20,000 apartments and over 300 commercial properties. These properties are mainly managed by the firm’s in-house real estate management department. Parnes is affiliated with the Board of Realtors for The Bronx/Manhattan, New York and Westchester.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, April 25th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Jewish Community Center of Harrison 130 Union Avenue.
