Douglas Elliman agent Lawrence Rich has just closed on a Tribeca apartment for $4.015 million that started as a $14,500 a month rental at the very last second before someone was going to rent it.

“The buyers came in and said we don’t want to rent it, we want to buy it, and would the seller be interested,” said Rich.

The seller was indeed interested, and the buyers took him up on his offer.
The previous owners purchased the apartment in 2009 for $2.779 million, according to public records.

“It happened the week of Christmas and I said ‘boy, someone gave me a great Christmas gift,’” said Rich. The buyers were represented by Vanessa Kaufman of Sotheby’s International Realty.
