Coworkers pull up a chair at Hahne building as celebrity chef cooks up a new concept

L+M Development Partners announced that Launch Pad — a company offering co-working space for entrepreneurs, creatives and businesses — has signed a lease for approximately 14,000 s/f of space on the second floor of the Hahne & Co. building at 625 Broad Street in downtown Newark.

Born in New Orleans, Launch Pad targets cities where a growing number of entrepreneurs and creatives are choosing to live and start their businesses.

At Hahne + Co., Launch Pad will offer co-working space, private offices and permanent desks to not only provide physical space for existing and new businesses in Newark, but also to build collaboration and community around Newark’s ongoing resurgence.

Launch Pad promotes cross-pollination of ideas and support in its spaces across the country. It has over ten years of experience delivering educational programming and technical assistance to growing businesses.

“Launch Pad’s coworking space will nurture new businesses and include them in the creative environment developing at Hahne & Co.,” said Jon Cortell, Vice President of Development at L+M Development Partners.

“As new businesses grow locally in this highly visible location, Launch Pad will aid in our goal of full local employment. “While Launch Pad will directly create several jobs in Newark, hiring members of their team on the ground, we are eagerly looking forward to the hundreds of jobs to be created by the many companies that take up space here in downtown Newark. By creating an environment for small businesses and startups to develop and grow, Launch Pad will have a tremendous impact on the continued economic development of Newark—something we couldn’t be more excited about.”

The space will offer a wide range of options to businesses looking to develop and grow. From freelancers and early-stage startups to corporations with teams looking to work remotely, Launch Pad will serve an array of needs for space.
Amenities will include locally roasted coffee, blazing-fast Wi-Fi, local artwork, educational programming for startups and small businesses, community meetups and social events, atrium space and restaurants, including the coming Marcus Samuelsson establishment planned at the building.

Celebrity chef Samuelsson will open an all-day neighborhood eatery in the Hahne & Co. building. The 60-seat restaurant is named for the Swedish concept of a BP or “back pocket,” an accessible spot serving approachable, satisfying fare.
“I’m excited to open in the heart of a revitalized and historic home in Newark,” shared Samuelsson. “In making Marcus B&P, we set out to create a meeting place where locals feel welcome anytime to drop in, grab what they need or hang with us for a little while. We’re proud to be a new part of this community.”
