Coffee shop leases retail space at new DUMBO condo

Brooklyn-based coffee roaster Devoción has leased a new space in DUMBO.

CIM Group and LIVWRK, co-developers of Front & York, the Morris Adjmi-designed condo development at 85 Jay Street, announced the growing local chain has signed a lease for a 1,400 s/f ground-floor retail space at the corner of Jay and York streets. The new café located along the 30 ft.  wide tree-lined sidewalk will open in spring 2022.

“The beauty of Front & York is that it’s not only providing new residential opportunities, but also neighborhood-serving retail in a thoughtful way,” said Jason Schreiber, principal, Investments of CIM Group. “Devoción is a perfect partner for Front & York; they’re a preeminent brand and they brew an out-of-this-world cup of coffee. Appreciation for craft and attention to detail meets a truly amazing product, which is exactly what we’re pursuing at Front & York.”

The Front & York location is Devoción’s first outpost in DUMBO and only the fourth location in New York City, joining stores in Williamsburg, Downtown Brooklyn and Manhattan’s Flatiron district.

Daniyel Cohen, Steven Baker and Michael Shkreli of Winick Realty Group represented both parties in the transaction.
