Champs Sports is moving its Times Square store around the corner to a bigger location.
JLL announced the store — a division of Foot Locker — inked a lease for two stories of retail space at 10 Times Square, on the southwest corner of Broadway and West 41st Street.
JLL represented Lechar Realty, which owns the building, also known as 1441 Broadway, and is in the final stages of a major renovation that includes a new curtain wall and 46,000 s/f of new retail.
JLLʼs Robert Gibson, Davie Berke, Amy Zhen and Steven Robinson brokered the deal, although the company declined the confirmed the size of the space.
“Champs Sports is moving its flagship store into a far-larger and much more visible location,” said Gibson.
Champs Sports was represented by Mark Finkelstein, president, of Retail Strategies LLC.
Steve Anderson, CEO, of Lechar Realty, said the company is nearing the end of a renovation that includes a new curtain wall on the lower floors and a new state-of-the-art office lobby “to be unveiled in the coming months.ˮ
Champs Sports two-story space encompasses 115 feet of wrap-around frontage along Broadway and West 41st Street on the ground floor, and 165 feet of wrap-around frontage on the second floor.
The 38-story 1441 Broadway was designed by Buchman & Kahn and constructed in 1930. The building offers a total of 45,765 s/f of retail space at the base of the building, including 16,901 s/f on the lower level, 12,361 s/f on the ground floor and 16,503 s/f on the second floor. Champs is moving from the corner of 42nd and Seventh, also know as 5 Times Square.
