LUMAS, the trendy and fast growing contemporary art photography dealer, will open its second New York gallery space by the end of the year.
Faith Hope Consolo, chairman, and Joseph Aquino, executive vice president of Prudential Douglas Elliman’s Retail Group, arranged the long-term lease for LUMAS Galleries at 1100 Madison Avenue, between 82nd and 83rd Streets.
The German-based art dealer sells more than 1,000 prints monthly to collectors in 21 countries. It has 17 galleries, 15 of which are located throughout Europe in cities such as Paris, Berlin, Munich, Vienna and Zurich. Presently, there is only one U.S. gallery located on West Broadway in Soho.
The PDE pair is working with LUMAS on a US roll out that will include several more stores in the city, as well as across the country, in Miami, Washington, DC, Boston and beyond.
“In Europe, LUMAS Galleries is extremely well-established, so it was only befitting that its first U.S. store would debut in artsy Soho in preparation for the Upper East Side, where art and design also reign supreme,” said Consolo.
“This particular section of Madison Avenue is especially known as a center for galleries and exclusive collections.”
Added Aquino, “With an internationally known brand model of ‘Exclusive Art, Stylishly Presented,’ LUMAS will be a perfect addition to this affluent family-oriented neighborhood.”
LUMAS Galleries is moving into the former City Market Café space, which is surrounded by neighboring businesses such as Jonathan Adler, Peter Elliot, Lululemon, Coach, Alexis Bittar, Theory and Tumi.
Consolo and Aquino represented the tenant in the Madison Avenue lease.  Jill Lovatt of Massey Knakal represented the landlord.
