J. Mendel, the fifth-generation luxury brand, is recommitting to the Garment District for another 10 years.
The French heritage, New York-based fashion house has signed a long-term, 27,177 s/f lease renewal of its corporate headquarters at 463 Seventh Avenue.
The space includes two full-scale ateliers dedicated to J. Mendel’s fur and ready-to-wear collections.

Comprising the entire 9th floor and part of the 8th floor at 463 Seventh Avenue, the transaction was brokered by Adams & Co. Real Estate, LLC, on behalf of landlord, The Arsenal Company, LLC.
The current lease, which is due to expire at the end of 2014, will now extend until 2025. Although the details of the transaction were not disclosed, asking rent was in the range of $40 psf.
“463 Seventh Ave. is the perfect location for J. Mendel to continue with their ongoing success,” said David Levy, principal of Adams & Co. “Having a high-end luxury brand, such as J. Mendel, set up their corporate headquarters in this building for another 10-years further attributes 463 Seventh Ave. as a highly desired fashion building within the Garment District.”
Studley senior managing director, Jeffrey Peck represented J. Mendel. He said, “J. Mendel’s space at 463 Seventh Avenue offers the perfect balance of location, value and stability of ownership.

“The space has worked very well for them and this allows the company to maintain its presence in the Garment District with a quality landlord.”
Following in the couture tradition of his ancestors, creative director Gilles Mendel transformed J. Mendel from a luxury fur house into a fully-fledged fashion house with the launch of its ready-to-wear collection in 2002.
Since then, he has introduced J. Mendel bridal, accessories, handbags, and home furnishings.
