AWA+RE, the Association of Women Accountants in Real Estate, hosted its second event of 2013 on June 19, a panel discussion about accounting for large scale developments.
The JDR and Lodestone sponsored panel event was entitled Further Along the Yellow Brick Road, based on a Wizard of Oz theme and held at the World Trade Center marketing center. Guests enjoyed Emerald City cocktails and Wizard of Oz themed appetizers as they networked. A wine basket and tickets to a Lionel Richie concert sponsored by Willis were raffled off to lucky guests.
The audience listened as Dara McQuillan of Silverstein Properties, began with a presentation of the history of the new World Trade Center development.
Attendees gained insight as the panelists shared their experiences with the accounting complexities of various Emerald City- like developments such as the Time Warner Center, Hudson Yards, and CitiField. The event was moderated by Deborah Levinson of CohnReznick. The panel was comprised of Robbin Orbison, CFO of Silverstein Properties and President of AWA+RE, Joanna Desjardins, AWA+RE Board Member, and Bill Imowitz of Imowitz Koenig & Co.
