Assa Properties announced that Bar Gonzo, a 4,000 s/f 70’s-inspired restaurant and lounge, has opened at its Cassa Times Square Hotel and Residences.
The restaurant is situated on two levels in the hotel, occupying a portion of the lobby and the second floor.
“Bar Gonzo perfectly complements the Cassa brand, offering guests and residents an urban escape,” said Solly Assa, President and CEO of Assa Properties.
“We’re thrilled to be adding this exciting restaurant and lounge concept to our luxury property which will serve as a premium amenity to the neighborhood, our patrons and the public.”
The two-level lounge is outfitted with mid-century modern furniture, marble detailing, neon signage and a variety of peacock statues. The ground level dining area, known as the Peacock Bar, can seat up to 40 people. A marble staircase leads to the second floor which consists of a raw bar, charcuterie station, a tiki-style bar and Cabana Veranda terrace. The all-season terrace seats up to 100 with a capacity of 150.
The food menu will be curated by Chef and owner R.L. King, a veteran of both The Heath and Gallow Green at the McKittrick Hotel, il Buco, and Hundred Acres at Five Points. Drinks will be crafted by beverage consultant Tim Cooper who is also known for his work at the Flatiron Lounge and Montauk’s Surf Lodge.
Bar Gonzo is owned by the team that created Ronnybrook Farms and The Tippler in Chelsea Market.
