WHO’S NEWS: Douglass Elliman adds two, Terra hires development veteran

Terra Development Marketing, the parent company of Halstead Property Development Marketing (HPDM) and Brown Harris Stevens Development Marketing (BHSDM), announced that Benjamin Benalloul has joined both firms.
He will focus on business development, specializing in luxury new development and ultra-high-end spec homes worldwide, along with capital markets advisory.
Through Benalloul, BHSDM has been tapped as the east coast representative of Nile Niami’s development firm Skyline Development, for the world’s most expensive single-family home, The One, a Bel Air mega-mansion expected to be brought to market for $500 million.
Benalloul went straight into real estate after high school. He was a principal at Portman Realty, which was absorbed by Keller Williams in 2012, and co-founded RLTY NYC in 2014. He was affiliated with TOWN Residential and, according to his LinkedIn page, he was also vice president at The Weeks Lerman Group and Piquet Realty in Florida.
Benalloul joins Terra Development Marketing with over $1 billion in global real estate transactions under his belt, including the sale of RKO Plaza, at 135-35 Northern Boulevard in Flushing, for $66 million and the $95 million sale of 354 East 91st Street on the Upper East Side.

Douglas Elliman Real Estate announced that Matthew Slosar, a top-performing broker whose business has more than tripled in the last two years, has launched his own business following nearly 10 years as part of one of the firm’s consistently-ranked top ten teams.
Originally from Grand Blanc, MI, he graduated with honors with a B.A. in Business from Michigan State University.
Slosar began his real estate career with Warburg Realty and joined Douglas Elliman in 2015.
Previously a member of The Richard Steinberg Team, Slosar has assisted numerous high-net-worth families and A-list celebrities, as well as first-time home buyers. Recently, empty-nesters and bi-coastal clients looking for pied-a-terres in Manhattan have also been seeking out his service.

Compass announced that Julie Gans, who was formerly with real estate startup Triplemint, has joined their brokerage.
Gans is an experienced broker with a primary focus on condo, co-op and investment sales. Coming from a real estate family, she worked her way up the ranks, from painting halls to managing a major balcony construction upgrade project.
She earned her B.A. of Economics at Simon Fraser University and then pursued a degree in Fashion Merchandising Management from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Gans began her career in the retail sector before joining Corcoran in 2012.
After moving to Triplemint in 2017, she became one of that company’s highest-performing brokers.

Douglas Elliman Real Estate announced that Lindsay Barton Barrett, an award-winning new development and townhouse specialist and associate broker, has joined the firm.
Barrett closed over $200 million in sales in 2017 and has been a top producer since beginning her real estate career over 15 years ago.
She holds a BS from Cornell University and a JD from Columbia Law School and is a longtime resident of Cobble Hill, Brooklyn.
She began her career as a New York City real estate attorney before moving to residential real estate.
She joins Elliman after an illustrious career, most recently with Compass and before that with The Corcoran Group. She was the number one Manhattan agent at Corcoran in 2013 and has been recognized annually since 2012 in the Wall Street Journal by REAL Trends as one of the top ranked real estate agents by sales volume in the United States.
Throughout her career, Barrett has achieved several record-breaking deals, including the highest priced townhouse in Brooklyn with the sale of 140 Columbia Heights.
Barrett and her team of three will work out of Elliman’s newly opened location at 111 Fifth Avenue.

Citi Habitats announced that Brian Giambalvo has joined the firm as a new Senior Managing Director for their Cobble Hill office.
Giambalvo will be responsible for helping agents at this location advance their real estate careers through one-on-one and group training, as well as ongoing business support.
In addition, he will work with agents to help them increase their presence in the sales arena and foster relationships with residential property owners and condominium developers around the borough.
Giambalvo comes to Citi Habitats from its sister company, The Corcoran Group. There he spent six years as an agent in the Park Slope office.
He began his residential sales career working with top Corcoran agent Carol Graham, and is a strong advocate of mentoring.
He also has experience in the Learning Development industry, where he trained healthcare and financial services executives to use proprietary computer systems.
A native of suburban Chicago and graduate of Marquette University with degree in Computer Science, Giambalvo is the Vice President of B.N.I. Chapter 3 (Business Networking International).

RE/MAX Holdings, Inc., parent company of RE/MAX, announced the hiring of Jerry Modes as Senior Vice President, Information Technology, and Kerry McGovern as Vice President, Communications.
Jerry Modes, a pioneer in the IT/data field, will provide high-level strategic leadership to the expanding RE/MAX technology groups.
He’ll oversee internal IT operations, membership data infrastructure, and the ongoing development of data-driven RE/MAX products by booj, the award-winning tech company acquired by RE/MAX LLC in early 2018.
Modes brings more than three decades of experience creating tech and data solutions across a wide range of industries. He co-founded two tech companies – Teradata and HyperParallel – and has held virtually every C-level position during his long career.
Kerry McGovern was most recently at Under Armour, where she worked directly with the CEO and served as a founding member of the brand’s corporate communications team.
She was also the Senior Director of Communications and Media for Drizly, Inc., a start-up alcohol delivery app that has since become one of the world’s largest alcohol marketplaces.
Earlier in her career, she served as the Director of Communications at the National Hockey League (NHL).
