WHO’S NEWS: Commercial appointments and promotions

CBRE announced that Kyle Schoppmann has been appointed Executive Managing Director and Market Leader for the Greater Washington DC/Baltimore Region.

Schoppmann currently serves as Manhattan Market Leader and Head of Occupier Services for CBRE’s New York Tri-State Region. She will assume her new role as of January 1, 2018.

Schoppmann also serves as the executive sponsor of CBRE’s Tri-State Women’s Network and, along with Americas CEO Jack Durburg, currently leads CBRE’s diversity strategy in the Americas.

Schoppmann has more than 20 years of experience in sales strategy, training and professional development.

She was previously a Consulting Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and then IBM, where she led global teams who were responsible for sales and marketing strategies, enterprise software development and execution, business process improvement and change management.

Schoppmann serves as a board member of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, where she chairs the Real Estate Committee, and sits on the board of British American Business, a transatlantic advocacy group for leading organizations throughout the U.K. and U.S.

She received an MBA in Finance from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Duke University.

Hirschfeld Properties LLC has named Robert J. Franco senior vice president of acquisitions and capital markets.
Franco is responsible for all aspects of Hirschfeld Properties’ acquisitions program and oversees all of the professionals within Hirschfeld’s acquisitions platform.

He joins Hirschfeld with an accomplished track record, having completed $1.9 billion worth of acquisitions transactions from 2005 thru 2017. He previously held long-term senior positions with The Albanese Organization and Rockrose Development Corp.

During his eight years at The Albanese Organization, Franco held a variety of posts, culminating in executive vice president and head of acquisitions.

Franco is a graduate of SUNY New Paltz and holds an MBA from Baruch College. He is a Certified Public Account and a member of the Real Estate Board of New York.

Advance Realty announced four new hires at its growing Bridgewater, N.J. headquarters, including two members of the company’s executive team.

Angela Tsai will join Advance’s executive team as a Director of Asset Management. Supporting the company’s continued growth and high-profile project portfolio, she will work in overseeing the day-to-day operation of a portfolio of regional assets with focus on multifamily and mixed-use projects.

Tsai joins Advance from Eastdil Secured, where she held the role of senior vice president. Prior to joining Eastdil, Tsai was an Assistant Vice President at Red Stone Partners, a division of Prudential Real Estate Investors.

Diane Pellegrino will serve as Financial Controller. A Certified Public Accountant, she will oversee financial matters ranging from development and construction project oversight, project funding, compliance, as well as budget preparation, tracking and reporting.

Pellegrino has over 25 years’ of experience as a controller and accountant. Most recently, she served as both Chief Financial Officer and Controller at Cappelli Organization, Inc.

Advance has also brought aboard Sean Doherty as an Asset Management Associate.

Doherty previously served as an associate at Vision Real Estate Partners. He graduated from Villanova School of Business with a bachelor’s degree in finance and commercial real estate.

Sid Desai was named senior associate with the capital markets team. Desai was previously an associate at Stolar Capital.
He earned his Masters of Science in Real Estate Finance from NYU and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Rutgers University.

Columbia Property Trust elected Constance B. Moore as a member of the Board of Directors.

Moore has more than 40 years of experience in the real estate industry. She served as president and chief executive officer of BRE Properties, Inc., a former public REIT, from 2005 until the completion of its merger with Essex Property Trust in 2014, and served as a member of BRE’s board of directors from 2002 until 2014.

Previously, she was the managing director of Security Capital Group & Affiliates, where she held several executive positions, including co-chairman and chief operating officer of Archstone Communities Trust, also a public REIT.
She held the same position at Security Capital Atlantic, Inc., a predecessor of Archstone, and served on the boards of directors of both public and private companies owned or controlled by that organization.

Moore was the 2009 chair of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts and is the current chair of the San Jose State University Tower Foundation and of the Policy Advisory Board for the Fisher Center for Real Estate & Urban Economics at UC Berkeley, as well as a member of the board of directors of the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.

Moore is also a trustee and governor of the Urban Land Institute and a member of the ULI Foundation and Global Boards, and is a member of the board of directors of Bridge Housing Corporation and a member of the International Women’s Forum of Northern California.

Moore currently serves on the board of directors for two public real estate companies, including Civeo Corporation, where she is the chair of its audit committee and a member of its compensation committee, and Tri Pointe Group, where she is the chair of its compensation committee and a member of its audit committee.

AmTrust Title Insurance Company announced that Michael F. Frederick, who has worked in the title insurance industry for more than a quarter century, has joined the firm as Vice President/Regional Agency Manager for Delaware and Pennsylvania.

He will focus on establishing operations, recruiting personnel, growing the agency base, and increasing revenue throughout region.

Prior to joining AmTrust Title, Frederick was Vice President, Agency Services Manager for Stewart Title Guaranty Company in New Jersey. Before that, he oversaw a group of nearly 100 agencies throughout the states of New Jersey, New York, Delaware and Pennsylvania for two other national title underwriters for nearly 20 years.

Frederick received multiple awards during his career, including the President’s Club Award for increasing market share, for recruiting new agencies, and for outstanding revenue growth from Fidelity National and First American.
He earned a BA degree from Ursinus College, in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.

Rashaad Peters has joined American Investment Properties Inc.as marketing associate.

Peters was a previously a marketing analyst at real estate investment company, Sharestates Inc. At AIP, he is charged with managing the company’s social media and online presence, as well content creation and design.

Peters received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Media Studies from Queens College in 2015.

Sullivan & Worcester announced that Joseph Philip Forte and Barbara J. Shachnow have joined the firm as partners in the Real Estate Group in New York.

Formerly partners at Kelley Drye, Forte and Shachnow bring significant experience in all aspects of real estate finance and will bolster the firm’s real estate capabilities nationwide.

Joseph Forte will serve as chair of the S&W New York Real Estate Department. He focuses his practice on origination, structuring, workouts and enforcement of commercial mortgage loans.

Over the last 40 years, he has been recognized as being at the forefront of key developments and innovations in the real estate finance industry, including involvement at the advent of commercial mortgage-backed securitization and continues to be sought out as an authority in the industry.

Forte advises institutional lending clients on a wide array of financing matters, including permanent, bridge and construction mortgage lending; mezzanine finance; pari passu and subordinate debt; and environmental risk management for lenders, as well as regulatory matters affecting commercial property finance.

With more than three decades as a practicing real estate attorney, Barbara Shachnow advises investment and commercial banks, institutional real estate investors, insurance companies, REITS and real estate private equity funds with financing and investment in all asset classes of commercial real estate.

She focuses her practice on real estate structured finance, mortgage and mezzanine lending, construction lending, preferred equity investments and joint venture transactions.
